Upper limit problem

I have a whilpool dryer model ler7646jq0I have replaced the upper limit and it worked for several weeks. The upper limit has gone out again. What could be the problem. I have good air flow through the dryer. The blower seems to be working fine. There are no obstructions in the exhaust either.

Check for shorted heating element ,coil will make contact with heater tank and bypass t-stats.If your limit is a thermal fuse you must change lower tstat as well.

Dryer on zanussi zwd1471w not working, new element has been fitted

Most often that I have found that when a dryer doesn't heat it's not the heating element. But more often one of the temp limit switches. Either the upper or lower limit. An ohm meter can check these.

Where do I install the cutoff-thermostat for my whirlpool dryer.model#ler4634jqo

After unpluging the dryer removing the back dust cover you will see the heater compartment to the right. The thermal cut kit has the upper small 300f limit and the lower 250f limit on the heater element housing. Easy peasy here is my video which shows how to replace that exact part:

I'm getting hot water for 2 minutes , then it gets cold

Most electric hot water heaters have two thermostats, one near the top of the tank and one near the bottom, and are covered by removable metal cover plates. The thermostats are pressed firmly against the bare metal wall of the hot water heaters tank.

The top thermostat usually has a high limit switch that will trip if the water gets too hot. When it trips it shuts off the electricity to both the upper and lower heating elements.

To reset the high limit switch there is usually a red button that you must press. When the upper limit switch trips it is often an indication that something else has gone wrong with the heater.

When the top of the tank is hot the upper thermostat removes power from the upper heating element and transfers the power to the lower thermostat and heating element. If the lower thermostat is defective, then the lower portion of the tank will not be heated and the supply will be greatly reduced.
Check for power at the upper thermostat terminals where the power is sent to the lower thermostat and heating element. If there is no power then the upper thermostat should be replaced. If there is power then check for power at the lower heating element. If there is no power at the lower heating element then replace the lower thermostat.
If there is power to the lower heating element then it should be getting hot. If it is not, replace it. Another possibility is a broken dip tube. Check for a broken dip tube and replace if necessary.

Hope this helps out

Hi, dryer does not run. A stackable it has power lights are on just used last night washer on bottom is working. Thanks Tim

Hi, Welcome to FixYa. Have you checked the fuses ? The hi-limit cut out ? The fuses are located at the back inside the box in the upper left hand corner ( left from back ). The hi-limit is a manual reset type, but it enclosed in the heater cover assembly. Let me know if you checked them or not and I will either tell you how, or what to do next. I see you posted several hours ago, so I don't want to write a bunch of things which may be redundant, so once I know how far along you've gotten we can resume. Regards, Macmarkus :)

Model number LER6620PQO dryer want heat up what could be the problem?

33ff008.jpg
1. Hi Limit (small limit upper right hand side of this pic) the most frequent problem if dryer RUNS but no heat AND you have
checked the element and found it to be good. 2. Heater assembly. 7. Control thermostat(s). 5. Fuse(350F), if blown(open) the dryer will NOT run. 4. Heater element
(if you do not have a meter remove and inspect this heater coil for breaks).

Wondering what the thermo limit should be set to.

i would contact rheem and give them the model and serial number. I would think that the upper limit would be around 200. I just put in a Goodman (90%) last week and its upper limit was 168

Upper and middle arms not turning. water coming

I would first make sure that the filter is clean. Make sure you pay close attension to the oeder of parts removal during the repair. Lay them out so you'll know how to replace them. At one point you'll probably need a number 15 torx driver to remove the filter.after reinstalling the filter spacers and lockdown nuts. Run two cups of straight bleach through a potscrubber cycle(empty machine) don't worry most resteraunts do this several time a week. Then give it a try you should be all set. If not your pump is gone Good luck. Dana
