The reason why you have different sizes is due to the resolution on the media. If your DVD player has a resolution upscale, you can set it to the max which should be 1080i or 1080p. this will give you the best picture. Regarding to the setting on your TV. you can go to menu, setting and picture. you can set your setting there for zoom and it will be like that for all your station. Note: if you do that, you will lose some of the edges when watching high resolution programing.

Dvds play in smaller window

There are a few things it could be. First I'd go into the players settings menu and see what the aspect ratio are and if there are any zoom options. For your zoom option, if there is a "fit to screen" option I'd choose that and see if anything changes. If not double check your TV settings for the same thing.

Zoom on desktop

Try Right Clicking on a empty space on the desktop and select Properties. Click the Settings Tab and go change the screen resolution. The higher the resolution, the smaller the icons. Normal resolution is about 1024x768, but you can make the icons even smaller by increasing the resolution.

If you can't get into the screen resolution that way, turn off the computer and boot up into safe mode.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal.

When the computer boots up click Start/Control Panel or Start/Settings Control Panel and look for Desktop or Appearance and Personalization.
Look for Screen Resolution or open the desktop and click the Settings tab. Make the resolution higher to make the icons smaller. Normal is 1024x768 but you can make it higher.

In Windows 7 just click Start and in the search box type: Screen Resolution. Look up at the top for the returned search results and click on Screen Resolution. Go in and set the resolution higher.

After you change the resolution reboot and let windows go into it's normal boot up mode.

I have a sony bravi xbr ;the picture is sooo big i can't read the subtitles . i tried ti fix it ( from the instruction manual ) but nothing work . thank you !

Hi: Check you screens format button to change screen sizes, this button may also be labeled Aspect. Seems you are in ZOOM Mode, these buttons can also be found on cable boxes remote as well try pushing them to see if screen size change. If this does'nt help then do this with the TV in off posistion. Press the Display key on your remote, Then the Five key, then the Vol up key, then press power key. This will turn set on in service mode, you will see service options do not do anything but press the number 8 on remote and hit enter. This will rest tv to factory settings. All video setups and parameters you have set in user menu will result back to factory and will need to be redone. TV should shut down on its own and come back on on channel 3.

How to format my PHILIPS flat screen. I want the picture to be full screen

On the picture menu, you can select between 16:9, 4:3, zoom 1, zoom 2, etc. Depending on the station you are watching and whether or not it is an HD station, selecting zoom 1 or zoom 2 on your TV remote might give you full screen. Otherwise, on some DISH remotes there is a format or zoom button that will also change the size of the picture.

My laptop screen is zoomed in which is making all my icons huge. It makes my Internet pages huge also. How can I zoom out so my screen is back to normal size?

use this if using windows vista/windows 7

Set the zoom level in Magnifier. This can display objects on the screen up to sixteen times larger than actual size. Follow these steps to choose the magnification level that you want.

  1. ?id=microsoft.windows.resources.shellexecutetopiciconClick to open Magnifier.

  2. In the Scale Factor list, select a level. The zoom level in the Magnifier window will change right away. Adjust the level until it's right for you.

use this if in windows xp

  • 1 Click the "Start" button in Windows.

  • 2 Select "Control Panel."
  • 3 Select "Appearance and Themes."
  • 4 Select "Change the Screen Resolution."
  • 5 Look at the left side of the "Display Properties" dialog window. About half way down the screen you will see a box labeled "Screen resolution." There is an adjustable slider in this box.
  • 6 Move the slider left or right, by holding down the left mouse button, and moving the mouse in the appropriate direction. Release the button when the slider is pointing to the resolution you desire.
  • 7 Click the "Apply" button at the bottom right of the window. The screen will go black for an instant, and then will switch to the new resoulution. You will also see a message pop up asking you to confirm the setting. If you are unsatisfied with the appearance, then click "no," and try another resolution. Otherwise, click "yes."

  • or try the accessibility mode

    1) press start goto control panel be sure use are in classic view

    2) select accessibilty options and select display tab and uncheck the enlarged icons option and apply and click on ok. this will reset all programs to a smaller view.

Yamaha dv-c6760 we can only see the top half of our subtitles

    Hello shell
I do not believe your problem is with the DVD player. It most likely is with your TV. What happens alot is the picture on a TV is set to a different aspect ratio(ie:4:3,16:9). and sometimes it stretches or zooms the picture, allowing part to be cut off the edge of the screen. This aspect ratio problem can have two causes now that I think of it. The TV or the DVD player. To determine and fix, follow these steps.
    PART 1-determining problem-
1 Watch regular TV for awhile and get some infomercials(yes, you have to watch Billy Mayes) on the bottom and edges of the screen, are there words and 800 numbers cut off, if so, your problem is with the TV and skip now to part 2(not step 2)
2 If you can see the whole number and everything , determine if your TV auto adjusts or not. Switch to your DVD player and see if the screens seems to move(shrink or enlarge). If it does shrink or enlarge, your problem is with the DVD player and you can now proceed to part 2.

    PART 2-solving problem-
1 By now, you have determined whether the problem is with your tv or dvd player. From this point on "it, it's will refer to whichever has the problem
    2 Go into it's menu
3 search for "picture" "video" or "setup"
4 Search for "aspect ratio" or anything containing "4:3" "16:9" or the words "stretch" "zoom" or "widescreen"
5 Set to 4:3 (sometimes 4:3 has multiple options such as stretch, zoom, and normal, if so, select normal)
6 ***OPTIONAL*** If you want widescreen, select 16:9(again if multiple choices, choose normal)
7 Insert or select a DVD and test your subtitles

If this does not work, please post a comment and I will help you further.

Hope this helps and please don't forget to rate
