Same thing except...

I installed the same quicktime update and just started having the relaunching problem so when i read that other people were having the same problem and it was as simple as turning off stuffit in system preferences i felt relieved. but when i went into system preferences, stuffit didn't show up and since i can't keep a finder window open for more than 90 seconds i can't search for the program elsewhere.
i called an apple support guy today and he walked me through some basic steps that didn't really solve anything, but we did discover that the problem doesn't apply to new accounts. i'm a college student and i need to be able to use my computer on a daily basis. luckily i'm on break right now, but class starts back up in a month and i don't know if i can fix this on my own by then.
if anyone has any suggestions i would really appreciate it.

Option 1 back up all essential files set up a new user account and transfer files back. If you have a .mac/me account you can sync all adressbook/bookmarks etc...
Option 2 Best option back up all essential files and settings. Perform clean install from original OSX Disk and reinstall all applications. Remember to repair permissions and run software update.

How do you install quicktime from a cd-rom

Installation

If you already have QuickTime installed, then we recommend to uninstall it first. After the uninstallation you should reboot your computer.

Now run the installer (QuickTimeInstaller.exe)
Click on the next button on the first page on the installation wizard.
Accept the license agreement.
Now you will be on the Destination Folder page. Uncheck the box for Automatic check for updates. You don't need that.
Click on the Install button. The installation will now begin.
Click on the Configure File & MIME Types button that is shown on the last page of the installation wizard. If you don't see the button, then don't worry, the file and MIME types can also be configured in the QuickTime control panel (see step 3).

File types:

At the bottom, uncheck the box in front of Notify me if other applications modify these associations.

Uncheck everything except these:

* Miscellaneous - QuickTime HTML
Optionally you can also safely enable these:

I installed quicktime 7.6 and paid for my registration code. When I install the code and my name I get a blue screen that starts off saying,'If this is the first time you have seen this...

quicktime 7.6.4 is free unless you mean that you purchased the Pro version.

You should uninstall the quicktime, update windows, and then reinstall quicktime.

Either there is a conflict with windows or another driver

When I try to print with my HP Deskjet F380, the appropriate window pops-up to print but immediately a second window pops-up reading 'The application hpSuppliesTool quit unexpectedly.' When I click the...

Go to the www.hp.com site and see if they have an updated driver for your printer. Download and install if it they do. This could easily be a driver problem and you just need to get a more current version that has the necessary fixes.

My itunes does not start whwn i clicked on icon.

Here's some info that may help - picked up from other boards where similar problems reported.
First check to see if Quicktime works normally, iTunes will not work without it.
If Quicktime is OK, then use these troubleshooting articles: XP version http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1421 Vista version http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
Have you installed any of the following: ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx)
If so uninstall them, they are know to cause problems with Quickitme. Then download the version of Quickime without iTunes: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html Now Remove Quicktime using the method for Quicktime in this article (just Quicktime): XP http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 Vista http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name. Restart you computer Install the stand alone Quicktime and check if it starts. If it does you are in a position to find out if iTunes is OK.
If Quicktime is OK, do you get any error message when you try to start iTunes? If not, open your task manager after trying to start iTunes. Do you see iTunes.exe running on the processes tab. If there is no error and you see iTunes.exe running then iTunes is hanging and we need to look at a slightly different route.

Sometimes it is just a problem with the itunes database file when it won't open after an upgrade. Press and hold the shift key while trying to start itunes. Does it give you an option to choose or create a new library? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/8.0/en/15502.html

Bonjour is a common cause of iTunes hanging at start up. i.e. silent launch failure with iTunes.exe running on the processes tab. You can uninstall bonjour if you don't need it. However it is required for sharing libraries and other things
You could also try uninstalling it, then downloading bonjour from Apple and installing it directly. http://support.apple.com/downloads/Bonjour_for_Windows

Problem downloading Itunes on Dell P.C.

try the following procedure.

first, head into your start> control panel >Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.

next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/ (Copy ans paste the link in internet explorer)

next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:

Removing iTunes and QuickTime for Windows

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US

now try to install itunes again. does it go through properly this time?

If not then also try installing latest windows installer software

(Sometimes an iTunes entry or QuickTime entry doesn't show up in cleanUp, in conjunction with a missing .msi message, if there's an older version of the Windows Installer on the PC.)

Problem is with iTunes

hi try this: The intention is to remove all iTunes and Quicktime software references. The following steps remove the software traces and worked on my machine. 1. Using add/remove programs uninstall Quicktime (click on Start ?> Settings ?> Control Panel ?> Add/Remove Programs) 2. Using add/remove programs uninstall iTunes 3. Right click on My Computer, use Search and remove all programs named Quicktime 4. Right click on My Computer, use Search and remove all programs named iTunes (except your iTunes download, so you won?t have to sit through another long download session). 5. Left click on Start, click Run, type ?regedit?, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, click on SOFTWARE, and remove the Apple Programs folder (you may want to check in case you have other Apple applications, but all I had were iTunes and Quicktime in my Apple folder). Steps 1 through 5 should remove all traces of the software and now you can install iTunes. make sure you install all the latest updates from apple hope this will work for you :)
