I never heard of holding the 0 key, but have you tried hitting F10 or F12? Normally when you first boot the computer you will see down in the bottom of the screen or on the top corner to press a certain key for system recovery and a certain key for entering setup, etc. It will probably be one of the function keys like F10 or F12, but I believe I have used F2 on a few. Easiest way is to check what your computer says when you first boot it.

    Need to do a system restore

    You can try by going to help by the start buttton and searching on restore/recovery and doing so. Or you can go to start, control panel and looking to see if there is a restore\recovery icon. Lastly you would have to reinstall your operating system by putting in the cd and rebooting after pressing F2 and selecting boot from CD. This WILL cause all user data to be lost so if you need it, it must be backed up first.

    I want to reset it

    @lslchrisorei

    Toshiba laptops have a built-in recovery mode on the system wherein you don't need to use a disc to restore it to factory default (if that's what you mean by "I want to reset it". The hotkey for the recovery is the 0 key (don't use the key on the numpad). To activate it, you need to turn the computer off, then you need to hold the 0 key then turn the computer back ON. If you hear a continuous beep, you can let go of the key and It will then say "Windows is loading files" and will proceed with System Recovery. If this doesn't work, that means that this computer doesn't have the hidden partition for you to restore the unit to factory defaults (either it's faulty or it's not there) and you need to order the recovery discs from Toshiba at 1-800-457-7777 (for US) and for Canada, it's 1-800-663-0378.

    If you're still under warranty, they'll give it to you for free.

    Cheers

    Do not hold the power button down while pressing the "0" key - it'll shut the computer off again. You just need to push it once to turn the power on and then hold the "0" key immediately after you push the power button on - just like turning on the laptop, but this time you're holding the "0" key down.
