Take off the bottom. Remove the screws from the hard drive caddy. Remove the cable from the hard drive. Reverse to install the new drive. Be very careful with the cable as they are very fragile.
Macbook superdrives have a bad reputation for failing, what I would do is take it to the genius bar at the local apple store and see what they say, if it is still under warranty they will replace it.
