PROSCAN DUAL HDMI

Hello, my name is Judy and my trouble is with my proscan dual hdmi. It was being used as my computer monitor and while connected to computer it seemed like a rapid flutter. When connected to the sattelite it had a fast roll. Anyone I have spoken to say the same thing I have always heard and that is it is cheaper to buy another one. I don't want to have to do that...it is the only HD I have and have only had it for less than 2 years...in my world it is still new. Hope someone can help me...thanks Judy

The Proscan has always been the monitor for the computer...they were bought together and have operated together perfectly. My Proscan has never been used as a television. The problem with my Proscan is as stated originally. So the problem is not with compatibility.

  • Judy1951 Jun 17, 2009

the connection between the Proscan and my computer was just the regular cable and I used the same cable to connect the replacement Dell monitor. I bought my computer (Compaq Presario) and the Proscan as a unit. It has worked fine for the 18 months I have owned it. The last time I turned it on, the screen was in rapid motion...couldn't distinguish anything on desktop. I then took the Proscan and connected it to my sattelite and the picture was clear but the image was rolling. I don't have another computer to test.

  • Judy1951 Jun 17, 2009

please explain to me why I would think that I need another pc when this pc works just fine for the past 18 months?

  • Judy1951 Jun 18, 2009

Let's approach my issue from this direction. Can anyone tell me how to fix the image on my Proscan from rolling? Is there anyone who can help me?

Hi,

  1. Change channels to see if all available channels are rolling. If all channels are rolling continue, proceed to the next step. If only one channel is rolling, skip to Step 4.
  2. Step 2 Locate the vertical-hold, or V-hold, button on the television set.
  3. Step 3 Turn the vertical-hold button slowly until the displayed picture slows and eventually stops rolling. If the picture rolling speed increases, slowly turn the vertical hold button in the opposite direction until the picture is still.
  4. Step 4 Call the cable or satellite company if only one channel is rolling. A single-rolling channel signals a reception problem that you can't resolve by simply rotating the V-hold button.

Note :- The vertical hold button is often located at the back of the television set. If the television is part of an entertainment system, there are often many wires leading to and from the television and other electrical equipment. Exercise caution when moving the television set to avoid inadvertently unplugging cable wires.

Although this is a simple process, it's easier to have two people to resolve the problem. One can venture behind the television, and the other can notify when the picture display stops rolling

****Remove all objects from the top of your television set to avoid damage or personal injury.

If problem still persists, let me know.

Thanks for using "Fixya".

May I ask what connections it is using to connect to the computer (the type of connector used to connect into the computer).

And is it possible to try the display on a TV set or another computer and see what the results are there?

Best regards

Sorry for not being clear. Would you by any chance have another computer, be it a desktop or laptop, on which you can connect the monitor to using the same cables? I'd like to establish if the monitor is at fault, or whether it is the display card or driver on your computer which is causing this issue (as is very common).

If you don't have another computer to test this problem on, are you able to attempt the same on a TV set (connecting to the set-top box for example) and see if you can get a clear picture there.

This will enable be to assist better.

    Best regards

Before you waste time fiddling around with this I would suggest you test another pc to this tv and see the difference. It also depends on your pc some does not work when I have tried at my place and others work well and mine is a 32inch hd ready...So If I was you I would first test another pc on it or a laptop and see the difference, maybe you might need to change the pc due to graphic card...Hope this would help you.

Personally the first thing I would do is to test another pc on it and based on experience of fixing pc, I would do this as a first step.

  • heeman mohun Jun 18, 2009

You seem to have a problem with graphic card and to confirm that if you connect another pc to this screen and the later works fine then it's definitely your pc as you mentioned it has the same effect on the monitor..

PiP shouldn't matter when regarding attaching your computer to your television.

If you have the appropriate cables and ports, such as an HDMI, then you should be able to connect the two together.

I am currently using a television as my main monitor. All I had to do was connect the HDMI cable to each and select the correct input on my TV.

If you do not have an HDMI port on your computer, there should be adapters available.

At the end of the day, the only difference between a television and a monitor is that a television has tuners in it.

Proscan TV HDMI no signal

I presume the non HDMI inputs including component work---what are you feeding to the two inputs in question?

Game unit?
Output from a Computer?
Output from a HD cable box?

First thing I would do is go into menu and make sure those inputs are not "grayed out" means locked out.

Second thing I would do is if from only one kind of unit you are trying each input (understand I have seen this before) to disconnect power from set and from whatever is providing the signal.

Sometimes a glitch can occur and if someone tries to connect things with either or both units powered this can be the result--HDMI in some cases does not like that--and a set can sometimes detect nothing is connected and lock that input out if you do it with the units powered up.

The remaining possible answers are:

A bad board which has the HDMI connections on it (unlikely but possible)

The set (if it has it) needs a hard reset done to restore to factory settings.

The set may also have a software/firmware update available for this.

If its Proscan (Thompson--RCA/GE/PROSCAN) INFO or help from them is going to be nearly impossible to obtain.

I have a Proscan 40 inch 1080P LCDTV (40LD45Q), but when I connect my computer to it, (GTX 260) with DVI-HDMI cable, it says the native resolution is 1366x768. Is Proscan lying that this TV is 1080P?

You can attempt to force 1080p to the TV by unchecking the box "hide modes this monitor cannot display" in the display adapter propteries, then try to select 1920 by 1080p, 60hz, 32 bit color, and see what happens. Post back what your findings are.

How do you connect LG W2261 VP Monitor to HP Pavilion 6310uk Desktop

The computer has VGA, DVI-I (dual link) and HDMI ports. The monitor has VGA, DVI and HDMI but only came with a VGA cable. Some computers have recently come with shielding covering all of the ports except the one that is currently live. Thus, check your hardware; the computers I've seen with only one active port, the HDMI port was active before resetting the video options. So get an HDMI cable (it will provide the best signal in addition). If the DVI-I port is currently live, you should get that cable as well and then change the settings to enable the HDMI port.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(you do not need to get the super-expensive cables; the low end ones will be fine. However a single link DVI cable is not the same as a dual link cable; sometimes using the wrong cable leads to no signal to the monitor.)

My proscan 32lb30q won't allow me to switch inputs to HDMI. It will only allow me to go between composite and tv channels. I'm trying to set up my laptop to connect. It's not a connection/cable problem,...

First, verify that your computer is sourcing video through the HDMI port rather than looking for an input from it.

What happens if you try to select an HDMI input on the TV with no HDMI cable connected? It should select the port, then complain about "No signal." If you get that, turn off the TV and computer, connect the HDMI cable, turn on the TV first, then the computer.

There are certain HDMI input chips on the market that are very vulnerable to static electricity damage, and some cheap HDMI switches will conduct a static discharge from the switch mechanism to the HDMI lines (a friend blew two chips that way, then he realized both times the input went out when he used the switch). Use a direct cable connection if possible, and avoid putting a fingertip into the free end of an HDMI cable when the other end is the only one connected. Symptoms of static electricity damage may include "no signal" when an active signal source is connected, or some sort of data format error message. I don't know if your TV is programmed to lock out bad ports; I would think there would be some sort of fault indication to go with the lockout.

"No Signal" Message when using HDMI Inputs on 26" Proscan LCD TV

You MUST get HDMI Driver for your Video Card, it is NOT standard. You need to go to PC makers web site and download latest Video Divers for your PC, then you must set up Multiple Desktops, To do that you must first connect the TV, but leave OFF, connect up to PC, reboot, setup Video Card, turn ON TV, TV will have already been detected, On PC, Share the desktop, or Clone, whatever you wish, now reboot after saving settings. Now you set the TV for HDMI already and it should show you a desktop when chosen. You must select and setup TV, FIRST, then connect the PC. From then on, Turn the TV ON, then turn the PC ON, that way it will Always detect the HDMI port.

Connecting an LCD TV to a computer to use as TV and Comp. Monitor.

Im no expert on the subject, but I use my L37 for a monitor, and use just the vga adapter. It works good as a monitor, and both dvds and my hdtv wonder tuner card look great through the vga connection. They do make adapters for dvi to hdmi. Although, hdmi also carries sound, but you wont get that out of your dvi output from your card. So you might not have sound when using that connection, as your tv may not look to the headphone type jack used for sound imput from your computer when you select the hdmi source on it. If you have speakers already connected to your computer you may not care. Also if you have a 720 p Vizio, 1366x768 is the highest resolution you are going to get out of it anyway, if I'm not mistaken. I'm Not sure why you would need 2 connectios to the same monitor either. I posted 1 link below because they had several dvi to hdmi adapters. Hope that helps.
