Question about Sony VGN-TX670P/B: VGN-TX670 PM 753(1.2GHz, 2MB L2 cache), 1GB RAM RAM, 60GB HDD, Intel Graphics 900, 128... (VGNTX670PBVGNTX670PM7) PC Notebook

My SONY Vaio VGN-TX670P laptop keyboard is not responding to anything I type. The touch pad is working fine. We just noticed this problem a few dyas ago, since it was being used for the DVD player primarily. I was going to use it for work today and discovered the keyboard problem. Incidentally, I had the LCD screen replaced last month, but the keyboard worked after we received it back from the shop. Suggestions?

Hi,

Press F1 to start your machine. But if not working get an external keyboard and see if it will work.If it works, go to your "control panel" and Double click on "keyboard" click on "hardware" to see the number of keyboards present..
If they are 2 them try un installing the faulty one.. restart the machine and notice if the computer will recognize it..

OR

try to do a system restore.
you can set your computer to a date when you were not encountering this problem.
>start
>all programs
>accessories
>system tools
>system restore
this should fix the problem.

OR

On your Vaio laptop keyboard...upper right hand side of keys....there is the 'Num Lk Scr Lk' button. Simply unclick this so that the light goes out. This keyboard does not require the 'num lock' as regular usb style k/boards do...since there is no right hand numerical keypad.....
Thanks for contacting Fixya

How do I remove keyboard of vgn-tx670P?

If I recall correctly, there are eight screws (maybe nine?) that need to be removed from the bottom of the machine, then the keyboard gets pushed down toward the front of the computer just enough to clear four tabs at the top. Then lift up, push toward the screen to clear four tabs at the bottom. Turn the keyboard upside-down to reveal the cable underneath. Flip up the latch and remove the cable from the system board.

Some laptops you can turn off the touch pad. You should have a touch pad setting program - check there to see if it is turned off.

Here is info on removing the keyboard. - WARNING, any self-repairs run the risk of causing more damage.
