I think you just answered your own question. I have had one single staple stuck at the "output" where the staple shoot out and it drove me insane for a few until I slowed my roll, took a deep breath and said, I have got to be smarter than a piece of metal here, and took a calm slow looksy. Sure enough, it was one loan staple causing a backup of the rest. I have also had issues with overloading staples which eventually makes the spring pushup rod become less forceful as it pushes the staples up for firing. Not an issue until you get towards the last dozen staples or so, which can also lead to the last staple not quite getting that millimeter push ahead, to shoot out correctly. These staple guns are like babies. Have to treat them nice and pamper them and heaven forbid you ever drop that stapler cause if dropped more than likely it will never quite be the same again. SOURCE: Hi can't seem to reload stapler

All you do is open the end peice and slide the staples in on the two rails, point down. You should be able to see in the end to make sure nothing is blocking the rail with a flashlight. You probably have the wrong size staples. You can only use # 214, 215, 276.

How do you fix staple jam?

You may have to open up the stapler to expose the loading area then look for staples (or staple fragments) jamming the nose. It may be necessary to resort to pliers to remove the bits.

Someone loaded regular staples into our Swingline 45 Optima now it will not work when loaded with the correct staples.

Using the wrong or style ofstaples, overfilling the machine and stapling through too-thick materials can causeOptima to jam. Now follow these steps: 1. Holdthe base down as you lift the top of the Optima stapler to access the stapletray. 2. Removeall the staples from the tray so that you have access to the jammed staple. 3. Turnthe stapler upside down and shake it to clear out staples you can't reach withyour fingers. 4. Gripthe jammed staple with the needle-nose pliers and, while holding the staplersecurely, pull it up. 5. Twistthe staple until it breaks into two pieces if it will not pull straight out.Pull out the two individual pieces. The Optima stapler line bySwingline is designed to be jam-free when Optima premium jam-free staples areused. Using another , style or brand may cause frequent jamming. Hope thiswill help you. Good Luck.

I can't seem to reload staples into this stapler. I used the staples that came with it and it worked fine. I try reloading and it doesn't staple.

With the stapler sitting a solid surface, turn it 180 degrees so it is pointed away from you, and you are looking at the back. Press down on the plastic extension that you see (about mid-height on the stapler). This releases the staple-holding compartment (it shoots out the front of the stapler). Reload it with standard staples, push the compartment back in place until you hear a click. Voila!

I had the same problem with my 690. This is what worked for me.. I simply pulled out the staples from the cartridge a little further than the suggested tear-off point, and the machine was able to start working. Hope this helps!

You likely have i staple jamed in it see if you can get something that fits into the end where the staples come out and pull the bent staples out this is common even on bigger models

After filling with staples, could not get gun to "shoot" the staple out. did we lose a spring that pushes staples forward?

It's possible, but they are not usually free to fall out. Check for a staple jam where they come up against the driving tongue. This is a common problem with any stapler. Hope this helps!

AS 300 electric stapler--pulled out jammed staples but even though it staples, it won't grab the staples (staples as though empty)

What has most likely happened is part of a staple is stuck in the front portion of the stapler where it forms the staple and presses it into the stapler.
You would most likely have to remove the stapler, and remove the binding staple from the stapler head.
