If a year old there is no warranty for the ice maker or the dual water control valve. Feel around the ice slots to see if there is still sitting there? What is the model number of your fridge? If the ice tray slots are empty fill with tap water until near full and if the water freezes and the ice maker drops the ice into the ice container the problem will link to a water control valve problem. If there is ice in the slots and ice maker is on and does nothing then the problem is the ice maker and it will need to be replaced.
check your water level probe make sure it is clean they will build up dirt and not seance water level which makes machine think it is low on water and this will not let refrigeration come on. if not dirty then replace water level probe.

I have the SPT IM-100 Portable Ice Maker. After about 2 months, it stopped, telling me that it needed water, when of course it was full of water. I did alot of digging on the Internet to find a solution. There was none. It finally occurred to me that the water sensor might be calcified with our hard water here in Reno. BINGO!!!! I ran several cycles with lemon juice and vinegar (you pick your favorite non-toxic acid), and the damned thing started up again as if brand new.
The outside male thread drain should have a cap to hold the water; this is the drain for draining the unit. Filling the unit is as you described, simply lift the lid and add water into the tub. It should not be leaking water from under the unit ... that could be a problem. Good luck!
check for water in ice maker with finger and if no water check water connection and water valve in back of fridg on bottom . you need to pull panel and check valve and water make sure it is on and not leaking...
Feel inside the ice slots are there any old cubes that have evaporated in time? Take the ice maker out and clean it up and place it back inside to see if it will fill with fresh water. Take a hair dryer and melt the old ice inside the slots and see if it will try to fill. I will wait for a response from you. KSCS25INWH00 Kitchenaid Parts
