Hi Bobby i had a 2004 caviler did the same thing the code that came up was idle air control valve but after replaceing it i got the same code with check engine light on. And idle going up and down with high idle! turns out the brake power booster had holes in it on the back side of it the side that faces the firewall. The best way to check is to pull off the vacume line that goes to the brake booster and put your thumb over it and see if the idle goes down! If it does that,s your problem. also check all vacum lines! Hope this helps you out... Ed

Heater goes cold at an idils

Low coolant can cause this. Make sure that the radiator is full. Dont look at the reservoir when it gets this bad. Also there could be issues with the water pump.

Check for a vacuum leak in any rubber hoses you may have connecting to the intake manifold or plenum, etc.

Had to jumpstart 99 jeep wrangler, now it idiles very high.

sometimes , when a battery goe's down, and you replace them, or jump start them, the computer has to reset itself and it will take a few minutes to do this, but afterwards, it should be fine, if you still have the problem, check for trouble codes.

My 1998 Explorer on startup idiling to high, it occasionally revs up and down while idiling. Is there a trottle position sensor that controls the idiling rpm?

there is a tps located on the intake where the inlet tube for air intake connects, it would be on the left side of the throttle body. does the trk run rough on idle? up/down sputter sometimes stall? Is check engine light on? if no light, check all vacuum lines for cracks/splits loose fit. do this by spraying carb choke cleaner on connections motor rpms will change if leak is present. also spray around perimeter of intake housing where mates with lower intake if engine revs you have bad intake gasket.I Just replaced upper and lower intake on my 98 and shazaam, runs like it should. but do your checks first, unessasary fixes are costly and **** you off.

Car idiling high while in netraul around 1500rpms. Service engine warning light is on. But while driving down the road the engine service light goes out and runs fine. I think a sensor is on its way to...

You will need to hook up a OBD II Scanner to the Diagnostic Port to retrieve the Trouble Code. You can go to any AutoZone and they will do it free of charge.

High idile

turn the idle down. you need a flat head screw driver and find the idle switch and turn it down.

1986 subaru gl wagon non turbo stays idiling at 2500

Hate to tell you this but sounds like the problem is a vacuum leak. This will make the engine rev. Check all the vacuum lines before making any adjustment. Have to dig out some of my old books to find factory settings for that carb. Good luck and I will try to find in case you need them to restore carb settings.

Idiling

yes you can and quite easily. on your throttle body there is a cable that runs to a metal thing that turns and that is your throttle cable. when you press the throttle it pulls the cable and makes the engine rev up. all you need to do is tighten up the nuts where the cable goes threw the metal and the rpms will go up. i suggest doing it while car is running

once you reset computer this should bring the idle back down to its specified idle
you can also adjust back of gas pedel the idle cable and on the throttle body by the idling screw
