HI. Normally, the gas valve coils will be the most common problem spot in thsi situation but, i recommend inspecting the following areas as well to address this issue.

1. Gas valve coils
Igniter glows, then shuts off without igniting gas - the problem is probably with defective coils (black, located on top of the gas valve). It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Note: Sometimes the whole gas valve may be defective, thus not letting the gas out. However, this problem is not common.

2. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

3. Igniter
Igniter may burn out or break. Replace the igniter if found defective.

Note: Igniters are very fragile and break easily. It is recommended to handle the igniter only touching the ceramic part of it (usually white in color).

4. Flame sensor (or radiant heat sensor)
Replace the sensor (located near the igniter) if found defective.

Replace any failed component.

My dryer says to check the lint trap

A sensor is saying ". . .airflow is blocked. . " Blockage could be the air filter or trap or ducts within the dryer or the 4" flex duct attached to the back. First, remove the 4" duct and see if there is good air flow with dryer running. If so, ream the duct all the way to the outside. If not, disassemble dryer to get to internal rigid ducting and blower. Also, make sure the blower wheel is not broken and can rotate freely.

Kitchen aid dryer Partial drying the cloth

First you should make sure the exhaust vent and ducting and lint trap is not clogged or restricted, birds/insect nests, or lint build up. If the dryer is heating up it is most likely an airflow issue.

Hello, This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of the coils 57d5263.jpgThis The coils are mounted to the gas safety valve, This should solve your problem. Hope this helps, Please feel free to comment again if you have any further questions or concerns. Good Luck! Mike

Estate gas dryer heats up but then flame goes out after around 30 seconds. Replaced the gas valve coils and the thermal fuse, but problem continues

It's likely the problem with the airflow. High limit thermostat is turning the gas valve off. Clean/replace the vent and lint trap.Check if there is anything stuck to the grille inside the dryer.

Dryer not drying clothes very well

Is the dryer getting hot? Is the airflow coming out of the exhaust strong? If the airflow is good, but not hot, the problem is most likely a thermal limit sensor.(These sensors determine the air temperature, and cycle the heat source) If the airflow is not forceful, but the vent hose, exhaust vent, and lint trap are clear, then the blower/fan may be encrusted with lint, or broken. The sensors and blower can be difficult to get to, for cleaning or replacement, but possible. It depends on your skill level. Remember to always disconnect the power when attempting a repair on any electrical device!

Excess dryer lint

It is strongly recommended that you DON'T trap the lint. Doing so, can cause the lint to back up inside the ducting and eventually cause longer dry times on your clothing, and/or your heating circuits to over heat and fail. A dryer requires proper (unobstructed) air flow in order to work efficiently. I would recommend that you reroute your dryer ducting to divert the exhaust away from your pool pump. Please let me know if you require further assistance.
