Question about Acer Aspire 5610-4648 Notebook

1 Answer

Desktop Back ground will not accept pictures.

I ave had my 5610Z for a few months and have been able to change the back ground to different pictures until now. The picture I did have has vanished with a black screen. I tried going to the the control panel and clicking Appearance/Personalization to change desktop back ground. Following the prompts picking a picture and it's position then click OK and nothing.  I am able to change a solid color using the same steps above. Is there something I'm not doing right? Or, do I have a problem?

Boot from your Windows XP disk and use recovery console, follow the onscreen stuff and put the admin password in that you setup when you installed windows, you should now be at a prompt
EXAMPLE: C:\WINDOWS>

At the end of the prompt type: cd D:\I386
D is the letter of the drive where your XP disk is so you will need to change it to your drive letter. The prompt should now be D:\I386>

After the prompt type: Expand svchost.ex_ C:\windows\system32
C is the letter of you HD were windows XP is installed, needs to be changed accordingly. At the prompt type: exit
Your sytem will re-boot and you will now have a copy of svchost.exe in your system32 folder again.

I presume you wish to put a picture of some flowers on your PC?

Windows 7: Write click on desktop, select pesonalise, then at the bottom of the window that just opened it says desktop back ground. Change you back ground here.

If you want to use your own picture then you can just transfer them on to your PC, then write cklick on the picture file, one of the options will be "use as desktop background", selct that.

There are picture of views and flowers on this site.

I wish to change the backround picture on my desktop to one of my personal pictures, the usual routes that i would have taken on other laptops dont work on this one, can you help please?

Hi. Ok, try this.
Go to where your pictures a re stored and find the one you want to use.
Right click on it, and it should offer the option of "set as background image"

Try that and see if it works

If not, then try this.

Right click on your current display, and select properties
next click on the display tab
to select the picture you want, click the browse button, highlight the picture you want, and the location of that pic should be in the enter box
click ok, or accept.

Then click apply, otherwise the picture will just go back to what you had before the very next time you boot up

Acer Aspire 5610Z. Upgraded to Win 7. Screen resolution changes

Hello,

Your laptop was not designed to run windows 7 or be compatible with it. It may run fine with windows 7 but issues might come up sooner or later like the one you're experiencing.

[EXPERIMENTAL]
Download both of these (as I don't know which one of thsese two your laptop needs). Keep mind that doing the following could render your system inoperable and use at own risk. When downloaded, extract ZIP , open desired folder and find SETUP or INSTALL program. Right click and choose properties, then navigate to compatibility mode, then select windows Vista from the menu. Then apply changes, ok and close window and attempt to start.

My Acer Aspire 5610z laptop picture is breaking up + going blank

Replace the screen, you can download the pixel tester softwar to figure out if the screen is going bad. I'm pretty sure it is.

If you change the inverter its either the onboard video card on your laptop (usually not replaceable easily) or the screen.
