Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Get an error message that says "Cartridge Error."

Says see product documentation for details. I took the cartridge out and put it back in. Still have this message. Just came out of the blue. I do not know what product documentation means.

Thank you for the advice. I removed both the color cartridge (which I don't use) and the black cartridge. Cleaned both and re-installed. Still have the error message.

Thank you again for the idea. I followed your instructions and after the reset and cartridge installation I again have "Cartridge Error" The black cartridge (which is the one I use) is just a few weeks old.

Hurray.. you solved it. We had cleaned the cartridge once, but evidently it needed a better cleaning. Even though I don't use the color cartridge that was my problem. Thank you. Your help was very much appreciated.

It could be an indication that it's reading the cartridge incorrectly or the cartridge isn't properly seated. Try re-inserting the old cartridge or a new one to correct your problem.

I found this solution posted on Fixya by LeWillie. This appears to be an HP problem (assuming your fax is HP) It's the reset procedure for a printer but could work for your fax. If this fails, please post back with name and model number of your fax machine.

Try removing both cartridges, then - with the printer still turned "ON", unplug the power supply cord from the back of the machine. After one minute has passed, press down and hold both the "#" button and the "6" button on the keypad and while pressing those buttons, reach back and plug the power cord back into the machine. The LED readout will indicate "Initializing" and "Reset..." Then, release the "#" and "6" buttons and wait until the machine re-initializes and prompts you to install ink cartridges. Reinstall the cartridges and see if the problem is resolved.

HP has a page devoted to inkjet cartridge errors. (Still assuming you have an HP) Below is a link for cleaing both the cartridges and contacts. If this doesn't work, either a service call or replacement would be what I recommend. Best of luck, my bag of tricks is empty.

I have problem. Message on the display "cartridge error. Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot" what do i do?

First take out one and close the door. Take note of the error that comes up. Then put it back and take the other cartridge out. Take note of the error now. One error will be Cartridge Error and the other will be just letting you know that you need to put a cartridge back in. The cartridge that was in while you got the Cartridge Error is the bad cartridge. Replace and go!

Says cartridge error 50C, see manual but i can't fix it

The error basically seems to mean that one or both of the cartridges is defective. It had me take out one cartridge and see if the error happens again.

I had both cartridges in and I got the error message2.gif. I took out the color cartridge and the error message went away. I put the color one back in and I got the error message again.

I replaced the cartridge and everything works fine.

I have a HP officejet 5510. I just put in a new HP cartridge

Like any other mass-produced parts, there will be some defective printer cartridges and it sounds like you have one. Since the first cartridge worked there's no reason to suspect a printer problem. I would suggest taking the cartridge back to the store where you purchased it and explain the situation. Since dud parts go back to the manufacturer, maybe they will exchange it for you as defective.

Hp c5280 printer

Its the cartridges...... you will have to get more or new ones. I changed mine after a week of fiddling around - and printer worked perfectly. Wish the error message had been specific, then I would not have wasted all my time. The cartridges that didnt work were brand new HP 350 and 351 cartridges - straight from the packets, but the printer "didnt like them"..... A waste of money but Im going to try and put them back into machine tomrrow and see if I can fool it!!!

Cartridge Error

I had the cartridge error message aswell. I took an alcohol swab and cleaned the points on both cartridges, let the cartridges sit for 1 minute to dry, and replace cartridges, restart printer, problem solved. Apparently I haven't used this printer in a month or so, and left it in my car and the ink dryed and caused an error.

Inputting new ink cartridges

Error 1102 means cart error. Try cleaning the copper contacts on the cart and the contacts in the printer also. If still fails, then put old carts and check if u still get same error. If u dont get the error then there is a problem with the cart itself. But if you have bought a refilled cart then the print heads on the carts are bad. Needs replacement.
