Question about Technics SL-PD887 5-Disc CD Changer
Usually when I turn it on the changer moves around and makes this noise but it won't move to go to the CD's and keeps reading error. It sounds like it's trying but nothing happens. It was working, my bf pushed stop to change the CD and then this happened. Any idea on how to fix this and how it even got that way? .
Thanks for the info on the cheap o-ring (Technics belt) replacement. For a 14 yr-old CD player, a $0.79 (10 cent tax..) fix worked for us. (Thanks to Ace Hardware)
We were able to listen to our Xmas CD\'s all day, thanks to the help from these posts.

Hi, this will occur when the optical lens assembly becomes unstable or, damaged. this Assembly incorporates many gears and levers and motors as well. the lens assembly works together with the loading dock.
The laser rides on a rail that is used to allow proper scanning of the inserted media and, if this optical assembly becomes misaligned or unstable, it will not read or track properly as you are experiencing.
I recommend replacing the optical lens assembly asap if possible. it is damaged. We recommend contacting a service depot fro this type of repair.
