You may have to activate windows first, even though this is a reinstall..Don't ask me why they're not the same process... See link here, and here. This link may help., and possibly this one.\
Here's an MS explanation of the whole process, with a support link you can use if you're still having problems.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

My brother gave me his Mecer tower microsoft xp but I don't know the password and he can't remember because he hasn't used it in a long time so he doesn't remeber aswell

One of two ways to solve this -
1. If you have the XP disk, AND a copy of all of the drivers for ALL of the hardware - format hard drive, re-install XP. (note: you will need to know the VALID XP key for install.
2. If you do not have the XP disk, but do have a VALID XP license a copy of XP is available online (illigal to give source here - you will have to find it), AND have all drivers for hardware - download the XP, Burn to CDR, format drive, and re-install XP (using your valid key).

On a side note: XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and therefor will not update, nor will you be able to install SP1, 2, or 3 for XP.

Would almost be better to install an alternative OS, such as Ubuntu.

Problem:" you may be victim

maybe you are not using a genuine Windows operating system. you have turned on the automatic update from your PC, and microsoft detected that you are not using a licensed one. I suggest, do a reformat and reinstall a genuine Windows, or if you are planning to use the unlicensed one, turn off the automatic updates.

I formated my everex stepnote VA1500V laptop. Where and how can I get my Audio, VGA, and Network drivers installed?

First, connect the laptop with an ethernet cable to see if the standard windows ethernet driver will get you online. If it does, go to windows update and let it scan your system. Choose custom install and view the optional updates, here you will find the hardware drivers for the devices windows found on your system, check all that apply and install them.

Genuine microsoft appears as desktop

The Genuine microsoft appers in desktop cause if you set your Automatic Updates Enabled then the computer of your's has downloaded a genuine validator therefore if the genuine validator finds that the OS you have installed in your computer is not genuine then it will continues to pop it up. My recommendation: Download a genuine validator crack and installed it in your computer. You can search it in the internet using www.google.com or you can reinstall your XP/VISTA OS then don't forget to disable the Automatic Updates find in your Security Center located at your Control Panel.

Reinstalled xp after Vista . USB port not working

Hi there,

The usb drivers are part of your chipset drivers, so lets try and get this sorted. The reason that they work in Vista, is probably because Vista has added support for your chipset and XP SP2 doesn't.

Try installing XP from scratch. First you need to completely wipe your hard drive. Use the XP boot disc, you need to delete the hard drive partition as well. This way, you will start with a RAW drive.

Set up a new partition, and let the XP disc format the drive with NTFS. Do NOT use quick format. Then let XP copy the files and install.

When XP has installed, get your internet set up, and download XP Service Pack 3 from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&DisplayLang=en

You will notice that Microsoft have written not to use if updating just one machine. Ignore this. The reason is because this is the FULL Service Pack, hence it being over 300MB.

Once you have SP3 installed, your system will restart. Open Windows Update, make sure you have this set to update all Microsoft products, then download all updates. Restart your system and check if your usb's are working.

If they are still not working, go to the laptop website and download the chipset drivers from there, but make sure you are downloading the drivers for XP. If not, then go to the Chipset manufacturer's website and download from there.

Let me know how you get on

hai,
goto device manager and find for the sound device, if there is a ?questian mark over the name, the driver for the device is not properly installed.
Right click the device name and select Update driver
Put the motherboard CD in the CD drive.

Hi, you still need to do the updates before you can put software on. On the desktop go to START....ALL PROGRAMS....then at the top you will see an item marked UPDATES. Click and go from there, it will download a lot of items as long as you are connected to the internet.
