Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

Acer Aspire 3102WLMi Sempron3200+ no keyboard or mouse activity

The laptop boots up as normal with no errors but the keyboard and mouse pad do not work.
I've plugged in a usb mouse and although the optical mouse powers up the cursor still won't move. Also plugged in  a usb pen drive and get no activity .The dvd player can read discs ok but still without keyboard/mouse movement.
I can't get into the bios on start up or load any recovery discs due to no keyboard activity. I have tried with the battery removed and just powered by the psu as suggested on previous forums to no avail.
Please can anybody help.

    I have purchased the keyboard and mouse - the mouse has an off button on the underside to conserve battery life - the keyboard does not appear to have this switch - does this mean that the only way to conserve the battery life on the keyboard is to remove the USB stick from the computer?

From ur update..it seems lik that it's not any soft based errors...it's hardware error..so it's better to hand over that to authorised service expert!!!!dont let anyone repair that!!!it will make ur problem much more bigger!!!!friend!!

    ok...do one thing try that with any boot cds...if it failed...u can confirm that it will be a hardware error!!!

Press FN on your keyboard and while pressing it go through all the keys on the keyboard you might have pressed a shortcut to lock the mouse and keyboard.

Acer laptop mouse pad gets really hot at times,
thats usually normal but if it shuts down for no reason ,then u need to clean the fans inside

OS loads but keyboard, mouse pad and usb ports
was there any liquid damage? just to check the intregrity of the hardware i would maybe boot off of a linux distro just to check and see if it works that way. ubuntu is free and if you can choose to "try linux without installing" option just to verify. this will let you know if it is a hardware or software problem.

Keyboard and mouse pad on my laptop. Acer 5100 vista
On an Acer, the Fn key plus F7 will turn the touchpad on and off.
Try that to see if it works.

Acer laptop keyboard and touchpad not working Have had the acer aspire 5100 laptop for two years. Would not boot up. Sent to have fixed under warrany. Came back the boot up was fixed but now the keyboard...
The Acer service centre have probably not connected the keyboard and touchpad to the motherboard. Common mistake by Acer. It is best to send it back to Acer to have it fixed under warranty as if you try it yourself, the laptop could be rendered out of warranty. Good luck... :)

Touch pad not working
If Windows service pack 1 - doesnot all recent drivers and will not recognize your touch pad and even keyboard. 
Try to boot on Safemode. 
Just press on F8 when your start your computer - and connect an usb mouse and try to install the touch pad drive manually. 
Then boot on normal mode and install your other drivers.. 
It is recommended to update quickly your os to Service pack 2 or 3 for best performance of your computer.
