Question about Harman Kardon AVR 630 Receiver

1 Answer

Surround Left Channel

My Surround Left Channel has gone bad. I know this because I've tested the Surround Left Speaker in other speaker ports and it works fine. I then put other speakers in the Surround Left port and they didn't work. How extensive is the repair and how costly is it?

When doing a Test Tone test for all speakers, all other speakers emitted noise, but the Surround Left does not. I then put the Surround Left into another speaker port and it emitted noise. I placed other speakers into the Surround Left port and those did not emit noise, so I deduced that it's not the speaker, but the Surround Left channel itself.

Try checking the output terminal/binding post. If it is loose or damaged in any way it would be very easy and inexpensive to just solder it yourself.

Hello,

if the left front channel is not working, first test the speaker with the right channel that is working to make sure the speaker is still good.

If the speaker is good, then it means the fuse of the left channel has burnt. Open the receiver and check the left channel fuse.

Good luck.

Sony center speaker and rear speakers don't work all the time

try using another speaker for the center channel and the left speaker, also watch your ohm load, most of the want a 4 ohm load. try to narrow it down to see if it is the speaker or the amp.

STG DR510 no sound on left front channel

Can I assume the calibration procedure also didn't work for the Front left channel? (It's not a "surround" if it's in the front). Switch the receiver to Stereo mode to eliminate any DSP actions. Tune an FM station to eliminate any external device or cable issues. What do you hear from the two Front speakers?

OK? Select a DSP surround mode. Check all modes. What happens?

If the channel goes dead using some or all DSP modes there's probably something wrong with the processor. If they all work...

Isolate the source that exhibits the problem.

It was a bad left channel cable somewhere, wasn't it?

Connect DVD Player to logitech X 540 Surround System

Bad connection on that one speaker, if you have tested the system with other equipment and it works thn you MUST have a bad connection INSIDE you DVD player. If your DVD had a whole channel out on your output amplifier I beleive then 2 speakers would not work so more than likely you have a bad solder joint inside system for DVD output

Sharp sd nx10_out signal trouble

Try all of the spaekers on the channel you know works. If all are fine, swap the speaker lines to test them. Is the input a DVD player on RCA cables? A bad signal cable from a component can be a source for problem. Connect the speakers directly to the amp(if possible) bypassing the sub box. If all works without the box, suspect bad crossover or in the self-powered boxes a bad amp.
