Dell Monitor E207WFP Picture Not Centering

Help!

Turned on my computer this morning like every morning and all of a sudden my entire desktop display is not center and skew towards the right. Tried the auto adjustment adjustment and re-positioning the horizontal towards the left to center on my monitor, but still no luck.

What am I missing?

Just tried my old monitor and it looks fine. I've already tried several times to reset to factory settings and checked the VGA cable, but no change. How do I reinstall the graphics driver?

    Thanks!

Dell Monitor E207WFP as referenced above in title.

  • patriciasquo Jun 18, 2009

How do I find this information?

  • patriciasquo Jun 19, 2009

My centering problem is corrected now, but the screen looks like all the graphics and fonts are smudged towards the end of the sentence, right side of each picture or graphic, etc.. Is this also graphic card problem?. If so, computer is a Dell XPS 210 factory direct one. Hope this helps!

Try another monitor on the PC, see if that helps.
If it does, the monitor is faulty. Try resetting it to fctory settings.
If it isn't, it's probably your graphics adapter, or something in between.
First check the vga cable, then reinstall the graphics driver.

I hope this helps,
Yannick.

That depends on the type of graphics card. Could you please post your model here?

  • Yannick Verhoog Jun 18, 2009

The model of your graphics card, not the monitor model.

  • Yannick Verhoog Jun 19, 2009

That depends on what PC you have.

If it is from a brand (i.e. it is a Dell or HP or something) you could just post the model they call it, and I can then find the other info on the internet.

If it is assembled from individual parts, either by you or the store you bought it, all the parts should be listed on the receipt.

I need to know the exact model of the graphics card. Its name will contain the words "Nvidia" or "ATi", so that's what you can recognise it from.

My dell E207WFP monitor only displays auto detect self test and before that was a lock.

Assuming your computer is functioning ok: then either your graphics card is not recognizing the monitor, the cord is not connected properly at both ends, or the monitor is defective and not displaying the signal. I would switch the monitor with another one, or try it on a different computer. If it works properly then you have narrowed it down to the graphics card. Remember, this is assuming your computer is OK. Try a different monitor on your computer, too.

Dell monitor will only duplicate laptop screen. I want to extend. This was working before and stopped after removing and reconnecting monitor

Right click on the desktop, go to properties, go to settings tab. There you will see your display adapters. Identify screens 1 and 2. Assign monitor 2 to extended desktop. This is where your issue can be solved. Play around with it and get to know it. You can change the monitor to right and left, etc.

Dell monitor is flickering

If you have another computer, try hooking to it and see if it flickers on it too.
If you hit Ctl-Alt-Delete and choose Task Manager, does the box flicker there?.
Adjust the monitor ratio in the Display Settings/Display/ Display Adapter Properties, Monitor Tab, see drop down (increase screen refresh ratio to higher number).
