If moving the hinges makes the picture come and go, it would be a video cable problem. If the picture bleeds out to white, and comes back when you hold the screen sides and flex slightly, this is a faulty LCD screen. If you get the same problem when you hook up an external monitor, it would be a videocard or video-on-motherboard issue.
