Okay it's like this. The monitor is fine before i switched it off. When i turn it on again, the desktop shows for about a second and then the screen goes blank. This happen when i am using the monitor continuously for hours and switching it off for a moment, say, by accident and had to turn it on again. If i turn it off for a long time (and i assume because the monitor has cooled off significantly) it works fine. When the screen goes off, the speaker is still working, if i happen to turn on my media player. It's just the screen that isnt.
I would say don't turn off the monitor at the switch at all unless you are not going to use it for a long time. I just leave mine switched on and the power save blanks the screen if I am away from it for 20 minutes. I leave my PC switched on all the time as well. If I need to use it for any reason it takes ages for it to start up fully so it's more convenient to just leave it all going so it's ready when I need it. If away from the PC for a day or more switch it off but I keep going back to it all day and night so it's easier for me to leave both on all the time.
