I can not run VPN through Paradyne 6211 DSL MODEM. Need solution

I can not run VPN through Paradyne 6211 DSL MODEM. The modem sit infront of wondows 2003 server running RRAS and a NAT. Sometimes I get through with the VPN connection but then the GRE protocol issue that exist with PPTP connections starts to affect my connection with a long verification process that eventaully times out. I found out the Paradyne 6211 does not support the GRE protocol. The GRE protocol is use to encapsulate the data.

I need a DSL Modem that supports the GRE protocol and allows at less 5 concurrent VPN connections. I checked out a few modems which claimed they could but in the reviews from users they gave them a very low rating. Are you aware of any. I prefer if the concurrent connections is PPTP but as my situation is urgent I will be willing to use L2TP IPSEC connections. L2TP connection does not use the GRE protocol.

This is a tough one.

Can the Paradyne 6211 ADSL2+ modem support internet speeds of 6Mbps. My carrier is saying I need a new modem for this speed.

ADSL2+ (aka ITU G.992.5) Is a standard that notable for its theoretical max download speed of 24 Mbps. Your carrier is mistaken. Howevver, perhaps they are claiming this because the speed is available on their end and there is a setting in your router causing the low speeds. There also could be high noise on your lines. Your router has a BER test that will tell you statistics about your line. Report that figure as well as your signal to noise ratio to your carrier to see if that changes their opinion.

HOW TO CONFIGURE MODEM OF PARADYNE(ADSL 2+)

Basically if your Internet service is DSL or cable it's just a plug and play. Just plug the computer to the modem once the Internet access has been activated by your ISP and your computer should automatically get connection from the modem.

Hey

check if your computer is getting a valid address from your modem. if so, try to ping the modem's address and check if you'll have replies. if it'll reply, try to disable any antivirus software and firewall installed on the computer or try to use another browser. if not, check i the computer is properly connected to the modem, try to use another port or another known working cable. also try to use another computer for isolation.
hope this'll help you with your concern.

How to configure paradign modem adsl2 6211-A3-304 in bridge mode for BSNL Dataone Broadband connection

I belive with this modem you will:
1.Access the interface, generally http://192.168.1.1/
2. Go to Advanced on the left.
3. Select WAN.
4. Now you may see several rows of info, look for the one that says PPPoE, and then click edit to the far right.
5. Select Next one time.
6. Here select "BRIDIGING".
7. Click next all the way to the end.
8. Reboot, after you clicked save of course.

This is how you bridge 98% of PPPoE providers with a similar paradign modem.

Of course the next device in line will have to provide your username and password for your DSL connection.

Hope this helps!

Connection of Paradyne 6211 to iMac (OS 10.5) via Ethernet

Hi,

If you connect by using LAN port (RJ 45) you don't have to install driver. However USB connection will require driver. Do you have Ethernet adapter installed to you iMAC? If you have it will be resolved easily without using USB port. Check the following link for connection instructions
http://www.fixya.com/support/p200812-paradyne_6211_a2_200_router/manual-18800/page-18

If physical connection is successful you can go to internet browser type 192.168.1.1 and check your modem's settings. Please post if you need further assistance

Good Luck

Paradyne Dsl Modem

Hi, If I understand you right, what you want is to use your Paradyne 6211 modem to share the Internet connection to 2 PCs. One is connected through the USB and the second through Ethernet port. Tried it on a Siemens 4200 and a Prolink Hurricane 9000, both worked and can be done. To be sure, the IP settings of the PC connected via Ethernet was set to manual configuration. In your case try IP 192.168.1.3, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway 192.168.1.1, DNS Servers - whatever your ISP are using. You of course can try and see if it works in your modem. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.

Is there anyway to do a remote reset of a dsl modem?

The answer "depends." If the DSL modem is in bridge mode, then NO. If you have opened up a WAN management port in the DSL modem, then YES. If the modem's management port is not open to WAN access, then do what I do. Remote into the site, past the DSL, then go backwards into the LAN portion of the DSL and reboot it. But..of course these answers are too easy and not what you are looking for, probably. The DSL provider can reboot the dsl modem. But there is no software or command I'm aware of that can reboot or resync a "fritzed out" modem. ZT3000 "Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"
