Question about Apple AirPort Extreme Wireless-N Wireless Base Station
I created an online game server a few months ago and wanted to play on my server online with my friends. The problem was i had a router connected to my desktop. the only way my friends could find the server on the game server list if i disconnected the router and connected my computer into the internet cable modem. when i do that the game server is visible to everyone. I understood that routers have dynamic IP addresses and when you are connected the the internet from the router you get a privat or "dynamic" IP address, and your IP address is not visible to anyone outside my wireless network. when you are connected the the cable modem you get a public or "static" IP address. in the end it don't want to play on my server without having to unplug my wireless router. because other laptops and computers in my house need to use it. i want a way to make my router IP address "public", and play my game without having the disconnect the router and use the cable modem.
PS. i've been looking for an answere for at least 8 months now.
Please help me...
First option is to forward ports where your friends can connect to. The second option is to put your computer in DMZ. These options can be found on the router settings.

Before You Start
Telnet into the Netopia router's Main Menu at 192.168.1.1 (if using the default IP setting). If your network has a different IP addressing scheme, modify this accordingly. Click Here! for instructions on using telnet and Hyperterminal (serial connection).
Login with the user name and password. The Superuser login is required to save changes. If you are unsure of this, contact your network administrator.
Don't forget to press the Enter key to save any entries. Hitting the back space, delete or tab without first hitting enter will undo any changes.
The Esc key will take you back towards the main menu screen.
Once you have completed your configuration, you should reboot the Netopia to save and apply your changes.

You have now configured your router for TCP/UDP port forwarding. If you have a switched connection (ISDN or Analog), you will need to either disconnect and reconnect your Internet connection, or restart your router for the Nat Server List changes to take effect. If you wish to filter traffic for your static IP mappings, please see the following Netopia Technote:
