I can't "wake up" my laptop. When I tried to install Windows XP..at half of the installation(when it supposed to restart itself)..entered in Hibernation Mode...The Power Led is On but the Display stays off..I can't even get to the BIOS(It was a little helfpul)..and I've tried anything else..Key combinations..power up without the battery..without AC..and a lot more..do you know how to "wake him up"?
SOURCE: Vista boots to blank screen. Mouse pointer moves. Nothing else
graphic card issue. very bad, very expensive to repair most likely a new motherboard.

Just power it on by pressing the power button
It will come up and Resume Windows.
SOURCE: Hibernation permanently
Yep, pull the plug. Power Cord, remove the battery, then press the Power Button and hold it for 15 seconds.
Next time you boot up go into the Control Panel and check your Power Options. You can set it to never hibernate.

A) How did the Power Button Module get broken?
B) Error indicates losing data and unable to leave Hibernation Mode.
It's a long shot, but let's see if you can reset BIOS Settings back to default, without being able to see the BIOS Setup screen.....
Remove the AC adapter (Charger)
Remove the Battery.
Remove the RTC Battery. (Real Time Clock. Same as CMOS Battery, but with a new name)
Oh, excuse me.....Dell = Coin-Cell Battery
Power Button Module flat flex cable installed in motherboard connector, press the Power On button, hold it down for a count of 10 seconds. Let go.
Do this same procedure two more times.
Reinstall Coin-Cell Battery
Reassemble laptop.
Reinstall Battery, THEN AC adapter, and THEN plug AC adapter into power.
Let's see if we can revert the BIOS Setup settings, back to the factory default settings.

C) Dell refuses to help you since your warranty expired.
Not sticking up for Dell, but Really?
You're telling me they're not going to take your laptop, and fix it for a specific amount of money?
"No thank you Mr.Robertson, we're a laptop manufacturer, and money is of no consequence!"
We get by just knowing people out there like our laptops.
That, food stamps and the occasional barbecue Gates puts on at his place, gets us by."
Right.
Did you know I'm Brad Pitt? Angelina is in one of her moods again, so I come on here.
(Just trying to be funny)
D) LED lights 2 & 3 stay on
LED 2 is the Harddrive Activity LED.
Should stay solid as the harddrive isn't active
LED 3 is the Battery Status LED.
Solid amber indicates ON, or Standby.
Did you follow Anti-Static Procedures, during the Power Button Module replacement?
Plus, I'm willing to bet the Power Button Module, didn't come from Dell. Another reason they would not want to work on the laptop.
They can't guarantee the replacement part is good.
(They can, but there are too many liability issues)
Power Button Module being broken, is what I'm concentrating on at the moment.
This was the start of the problem. From it all other problems have issued.
The Power On switch is a Momentary Contact Switch.
The carbon contact Power On switch on that Power Button Module.

Was it broken so it stayed pressed to the on position?
Also need to know the full extent of damage caused by the Power Button Module being broken.
In my estimate it took a pretty hard hit in that area, to break that board.
Lastly for now; The Power Button Module has a FFC.
Flat Flex Cable.
Is it replaced back in the SAME position? Not flipped over?
It will go in either way. Right side up, or flipped over.
Please post back in a Comment.
