Jim, Pc Er is a Communication circuit failure on main board or
Communication circuit failure on control panel board
Could be a loose or corroded connection, a bad mother board or a bad display board. Before doing anything, unplug the refrigerator for 5 min and plug it back in. This may reset the motherboard. If not, check the comm cable at the display and the motherboard. if ok, then you will need to replace either the motherboard or the display board. There is no way of determining which one to replace.

This may or may not be a problem. The error code will be held in the copmputer, so the next step is to pull the error code(s)... However, if the light stays off, perhaps something hiccuped, and you need not investigate....
I'm getting the same error. The hydro went out last night and I woke to the answering machine flashing and er message. to the others - this is not a phone - it's an answering machine that attaches to any phone. It's the answering machine that gives the error.
I have a similar problem with my Frigidaire FDB4050LHS1. My Owner's Manual says to contact the Customer Care Center if the display shows "Er", "uF", or "CE". When I called them, Maria didn't have a clue what the codes meant - all she could do was give me phone numbers to authorized service centers in my area.
I managed to get ahold of a "SERVICE DATASHEET" P/N: 154718601. The error code "ER/ER" means there is a "switch failure"; "ER/CE" denotes a "Configuration Error"; "ER/uo" means "Vent will not close"; and "ER/UF" means "Fan not running".
The schematic only labels three switches - labeled "USER INTERFACE SWITCH", "DOOR SWITCH", and "FLOAT SWITCH". There is also a switch in the pump motor assembly. If either the door or user interface switch is faulty, then you probably won't be able to do anything other than call a repair service - unless you know how to replace these switches yourself.
If the float switch is causing the error, you might be able to run the "Water/Service Test". From "PF" (denoting a Power Failure) or idle mode (with no lights on whatsoever), press and hold the "DRY/AIRDRY" and "START/CANCEL" buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. This will start an 8-stage test that runs for about 7 and 1/2 minutes. The display will show which step the test is in until it shows an error code. Step 1 tests the water valve, which is where the float switch is located. If that switch is bad, you will likely see "Uo" displayed within the first minute of the test.
I have had my 2001 S Type for 6 months and had 3 batteries, the one on it now is just about the
biggest I could get but it still went flat when I somehow left an interior light on over night.
