'Washed out' sounds as if the pictures were over-exposed which could be caused by settings which have been altered, as you said. It should be fairly easy to set the camera to 'auto', which will override any unusual settings in the 'manual' mode and be the simplest way to deal with the problem. Naughty girls!
i had the same problem a year ago / this is not somethin you can fix by yourself you shood get your camera to a laboratory that repares sony's camera because there is some chip they need to replace - if i recall somethin likr color mannager\spliter i don't have the wright words in english for this
sounds like the gamma settings need to be adjusted somehow you hit the wrong button and adjusted the gamma settings if you know the reset on your camera try reseting it
You have a bad film pack. Replacing the film pack with a new one should fix the problem. Nothing in the camera can change the color of a picture. The camera can over expose pictures (wash out the picture), under expose pictures (dark pictures), or the picture can be out of focus (blurry).

I would check to see if you have set the exposure compensation and/or flash compensation to a high setting and forgot to put it back to zero.
