Question about Mitsubishi WS-55511 55" Rear Projection Television
My T.V. seemed to loose sync on the green gun. There are two pictures offset vertically on the screen. I went to the convergence screen and the green target is offset to the right. The red and blue targets align with each other perfectly, but they cannot be moved far enough to the right to match the green target. When I went to the advanced convergence screen, the blue and red lines are straight and aligned across the entire tv. The green lines are offset the the right, are not perfectly straight and are jumpy/wavy at the top 1/4 of the screen. The set is 4 years old and has never had any service.
There is whats called a convergence IC that is going bad inside this TV set. There is only one for all three tubes and the IC number is STK 393-11- and can be purchased here http://www.electronic-repair-kits.com/STK393-110.html You will only need to order one. If you are handy and can solder this should correct your problem. One very important thing is, before you reinstall the new convergence IC, make sure you use a good coating of heat sink compound on the back of the new IC. If you do not, the IC will fail within a short time frames. Only if you are good with a soldering gun should you attempt the repair. If you are not, this repair should run you about 300 bucks or so. Also if you are handy, there are seven capacitors that go bad inside a board called the DM board. These will go bad very soon so while your in there these should be changed as well. If you need info on how to change these capacitors, let me know and leave an e-mail and I will send you the pictorial on how this is done. the IC change you will need to find that, but I do have a service manual if you need one also to help you along if you can follow the schematic. Good Luck
