Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

Keypad and remote will not open door

I changed the battery in the keypad. The senors are aligned. The wall mount works but that's it. The opener is 3 years old.

The battery has nothing to do with it. I just mentioned that I changed the battery to be sure it wasn't that. The remote was working even the keypad was not. Now, neither remote or keypad work.

I tried all of that already. We had a storm but the problem began before that. I have never had an issue. On my other garage door which also has a Sears opener, the home link remote on both cars works intermittently. My remotes and home link remotes have consistently worked fine for years. I don't know why this is happening. The one door with the keypad doesn't work unless I use the wall remote. The other door does not have a keypad and the home link and remote work intermittantly.

My reason for changing the battery was because the keypad did not work.. At that time, the remote did work. The keypad began working for a while (not after changing the battery) The battery was never bad. The keypad and the remote them began to work intermittently and now neither is working. So far, this is not helping me. The battery is NOT the issue and it has nothing to do with the other door which works intermittently.

Did the remote and keypad work before you changed the battery? Changing the battery in the keypad should not affect the remote.

I would program the remote and keypad. Let me know what happens. Have you had any storms with lightning?

Have you added anything new to the garage or house. Some of the oddest things will interfere with the radio signal. Unplugging anything new will help eliminate any possibilities. It is very strange to be having problems with 2 openers unless there is interference.

I have a Liftmaster HBW077. The opener operates from the wall mounted button. There are two remotes and neither will open the door. The green light on the WALL button is blinking. There is nothing that...

Check to see if the wall control has 3 buttons. If it does one of them is the lock button and you need to press and hold this for 3 seconds. The lock button has an icon of a padlock. If you do not have a 3 button wall control programming the remotes should cure it.

My keypad works,my remote opener does not, even

It is related. One of the buttons on your wall control is the lock button and has a lock icon on it. Press and hold it for 3 seconds. The blinking should stop and your remote should now work.

Chamberlain Liftmaster Pro. Garage door Problems closing

The sensor eye - or more likely, the other end, the sensor light - probably got knocked out of alignment. The eye should have an LED on it - possibly one that glows green when it's ready to close or red when it's obstructed or out of alignment. Try adjusting the light until the LED on the receiver glows green.

Remote only closes the garage door, will not open it

Anytime a door opens and/or closes randomly or doesn’t work consistently I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door or interfere with the remote signal.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.

The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the self operation / interference stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

In your case the expansion of the wall in the afternoon may be enough to cause pressure on the wire to increase the problem – works in the morning but not the afternoon.

Also after you change the batteries you need to reprogram the remotes.

HOPE THIS HELPS
