Drum making noise

Hello Jodi Roberts. I want to help you with your problem but I will need a little more information please.

Can you describe the noise? Is it a vibrating type noise or Is it a squealing sound, as though the belt is slipping? Can you smell something from the dryer similar to the smell of burning rubber?

Dependent upon what you describe can tell me if it is the rollers or glides in the front of the drum support; OR rollers or bearings in the rear of the drum.

Or as I said before, a slipping belt from either a seized bearing on the drive pulley, or the idler tension pulley, or simply a worn & frayed belt that just needs to be replaced due normal wear & tear.

Thank-you.

My Maytag Neptune gas dryer is making a very load squealing sound when in use. Is it possible that I need a new motor? I had a repair man come out and his answer was an entire new motor. The cost of the...

I do not believe the problem is with your motor.
I think it is your drum rollers in need of lubrication or replacement.
Replacing the drum rollers is a LOT CHEAPER than replacing a motor

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.
Check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go
to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots
or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably
only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade
of machine oil such as 3 in One oil.
Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

Drum squeaks, squeals, have taken it apart. belt still has print and is not worn.unbelievably loud. how to get rid of noise?

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
Once you have taken the dryer apart and you will now remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in.
This should solve your noise problem.

Maytag Dryer model#MDE6000AYW makes a high pitched squealing noise. Any suggestions?

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.
If you have a front loading machine, Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer. Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor. Now is a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear. Also check you drum belt for condition, sometimes they will wear and squeal as it is running till the belt gets hot.

Loud banging noise in dryer (maytag). Have taken dryer apart. don't know how to tell if drum rollers, belt, and blower wheel are okay. Don't know what else could be causing loud noice.

the most common culprit of banging is an uneven spot on one of rollers. It may not be really noticable, but a slight flat spot can form on them.

It is making a horrible squealing nose when it runs and takes forever to dry. it is a maytag atlantis 7600 electric dryer.

The squealing noise you are describing sounds like the drum rollers in need of lubrication or replacement.
The problem with the drying could be a faulty heating coil and or faulty thermostats.
If your machine is a front loading machine:
Unplug the power cord to the dryer, remove the front of the machine, this will expose the drum and belt, then remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in one Oil. If the drum roller is worn or have flat spots on them, then you may need to replace them.
Remove the back of the machine and this will expose the air tube, find the air tube from the blower to the drum, normally inside this tube you will find the heating coil and thermostats.
Good luck, I hope this helps

Loud noise

First, UNPLUG YOUR DRYER! Now open the dryer door and remove the 2 screws at the door hinges... remove the door and set aside, then remove the 2 screws opposite the hinges. Grasp the front panel near the top, just below the top panel and pull it toward you... do this on both sides. Tilt the panel forward then lift it off of the lower clips.

With the front panel gone, you'll see a 5/16" screw just below the top panel on both sides, top left and right. Remove these and the clips too... now you can lift the top panel like the hood of your car.

To gain further access, remove the 6 (3 on each side) screws holding the front drum support/blower vent panel, then set this aside.

If you want to remove the drum... first, take a flashlight and look closely at how the belt is routed around the idler pulley and the motor shaft. (You'll have to re-route it for reassembly.) Reach in there with both hands, with one hand rotate the spring loaded idler pulley back to release tension off the belt, then with the other hand remove the belt from the motor shaft. Now lift and pull the drum out the front of the cabinet.

Check to make sure the rollers in the back rotate freely. You can remove the rollers, buff the roller shafts with emery cloth, lube the shaft with light oil (like sewing machine oil) and reinstall the rollers. Lube the idler pulley also. Rotate the motor by hand and listen for the squeak you described.

Also check the front drum support panel you removed earlier. The drum rides on this as it rotates... As you are looking at the drum support from the drum side, inspect the 10 o'clock to the 2 o'clock area closely. If the glides (teflon) are worn it'll squeak when it rotates.

Hope this helps. Oh yeah! Almost forgot.... the belt won't squeak at all. It'll be the motor, rollers or drum glides.
