Question about Asrock K7S8X-R3 Motherboard

1 Answer

K7S8X's BIOS P2.30 doesnt start...

When I turn on the PC the start up is blocked at the display of :

AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2000+ (133x12.5 CPUID :0681)

I have tried to clear the BIOS with the jumper clrcmos2 but when I shutdown the pc again later it has the same problem on the restart. the power is on but nothing seems to go on. I have this problem for the first time unexpectedly, the computer restarted by itself.
where is the problem?! a BIOS upgrade is needed or is a kind of virus?
need some help...

Re: K7S8X's BIOS P2.30 doesnt start...

This is not a fault..What actually happened was the same BIOS was backed up on both of the jumpers..This could happen while upgrading after installing a new graphics card..So its not a problem..You will just need to flash the BIOS..You can find it on your motherboard's support site or let me know and i will get you a link..Also if you need any help flashing it feel free to report back.

ASROCK K7S8X in power save mode.

when you replaced the internal battery you also reset the cmos adjustments,500 mb ram ? 526 maybe, not alot but won't affect startup, start from scratch, disconnect anything not associated w/start up cd drive, omit video card.and plug monitor into mobo (if there is a d-sub).You need to get to your bio's,restart comp while depressing delete.when bios shows up reload default settings.and start can't resolve this without getting into bio's good luck

Fastest CPU available for the K7N2G?

Look for socket A processors and ignore the XXXX+ and focus on the XXXXMHz rating (the MoBo's manufacturer's support site will give you the max processor your Board will handle). Since you mention that your MoBo is 4 to 5 years old, you'll probably better serve yourself to replace the MoBo and processor (you'll be able to upgrade to a much better/faster processor by upgrading both, and shouldn't cost that much more), and probably be happier with the result. You may want/need to upgrade your Power supply while you are at it too.

Cpu install

If you go in to the bios you should be able to change the multyplier from x6 to x16.

Failing that try loading optimized default in the bios. :)

CPU Upgrade

Athlon XP 3000+ is 400mhz FSB according to the link(,,30_118_1274_3734^11672,00.html), means that in order to display the actual speed of your Athlon XP 3000+ you have to set your board 166mhz to 200mhz jumper setting or in CMOS utility overclocking option. and also just to inform you that your motherboard is in Overclocked condition when set, because it only supports processors up to 333mhz FSB (
