Question about Xerox Phaser 8400 Laser Printer

1 Answer

Xerox Phaser 8400 Error code 07,010.43:99907

The problem started after the printer jammed when trying to feed photo stock paper via tray 1 (auxilary sheet feeder). The photo paper didn't feed correctly and the printer tried to feed 8.5x11 paper at the same time from another tray. After clearing multiple jams, resetting the printer, clearing the job; paper continued to jam in the front end of the printer. Eventually the above error popped and the printer has been non functional. Its out of warrantee and my employer no longer has a maintenance contract for repair. Is there anything I can do to reset the unit and/or possibly repair it. One other thing I did manually rotate the drum to clean it of excess consumables.

You manually rotated the aluminum drum? Since you did that, I would suspect you have the print head wiper blade stuck between the drum and print head. The code you are getting it caused by the print head not being able to move freely.
The jamming is probably due to a bad registration clutch. Common failure on that machine.
You can go to Xerox.com, there is under documentation and drivers a parts list for that machine. You can reference the wiper blade and get the clutch part number there.
Let me know what other information you may need. I will be glad to help you get it running again.

XEROX PHASER 8400 SAYS CLEANING SHEET NEEDED. THE MACHINE JAMS EVERY TIME WE TRY TO FEEED IT IN.

There is probably a tiny sheet of paper stuck inside the printer somewhere which is causing the jam. You basically have to find out where the previous jam was and check the rollers to see if they are clear.

If it is cuz the cleaning sheet is too stiff, then you may need to feed it from the manual feed tray.

Xerox phaser 8400 will not feed paper on either tray.

I am going to assume something here. That the paper does get out of the tray just an inch or 2 correct?
If so, the registration clutch is bad, it is really common.
You can do one of two things. If you go onto the Xerox.com site you can find the parts list for the machine and get the part number.
If the machine is feeding the paper out of the trays just a couple of inches and stops, you can call 1-800-835-6100 and follow the prompts to order parts. Tell them you want a registration clutch for a Phaser 8400 and they will look it up and send it to you.
If so. Just E-mail me at rak458@aol.com and I will send you directions on how to change it. It really is an easy clutch to replace. Even if you never have changed one, I would doubt it would take a half an hour to change start to finish.

I have a xerox 8400 and it just keeps jamming. actually i noticed the blue was not prinitng..and was actually pinkish...i thought a ink block was put in wrong so i was making a lot of solid blue copies to...

Where does it jam? Is it making an "accordion fold"just before it enters the front rollers? Does it pick up a second sheet from the tray in the process?
Does it print OK from the manual feed tray?
If so, there might be a sensor worn out at paper entry, near the entry rollers and the plastic curved flap in the front. Once had this problem, the sensor's plastic "tongue" was half it's usual size, worn out by the paper abrasion alone.

Paper tray is jamming every few pages

My suggestion is to take out the paper tray. Put a little alcohol on a soft cloth and clean the feed rollers underneath . also install a fresh **** of paper.

Phaser 8400 won't print.

pull out the paper drawer and look on the ceiling of the compartment. you will see a little orange rubber roller that should be clicked inplace. it feeds the paper up into the roller. also, the drawer itself contains two sensors. if you go to the xerox page you can download the pdf that lists all the parts and the errors and how to disassemble the whole thing. i have the same printer and got a print head error and a paper jam that required complete disassembly. feel free to email me for additional help.

Paper jam related to Maintenance Kit

I wonder if you got some of the silicon lubricant from the maintenance kit on the rollers.
Try taking some alcohol or a cleaner such as fantastic, 409 etc and throughly clean all the rollers in the paper tray and along that transport behind the door.
If it isn't getting out of the tray you may coincidently have a smoothe feed roller, if it is feedinf a couple of inches out of the tray and stopping in the lower rollers I suspect a slipping registration clutch. Removing the maintenance kit seems like an odd thing to start a jamming problem. As I said clean the rollers, I guess see if you happened to have gotten a chunk of ink in the paper path from the catch tray.
Is there any damage to the paper? And tears or dents in the page?
Let me know we can resolve the problem.

Envelope printing

The manual bypass tray on the Phaser 8400 can be set only when you have paper in the tray.

The envelope will read in the set up when you have it in the tray.
