Canon 350D photos have a small red dot on them

Hi i am wondering if you have heard of  these camera's dropping a pixel or something of the sort?  My camera seems to have developed a red spot on all photos which has gradually got brighter over the last two months!  I am wondering if it could be a dropped pixel  (like my lcd monitor has done so) and if this is the problem why is it red and not black?

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks!  :)

Re: canon 350D photos have a small red dot on them

If the red spot is always on the same place in each picture.... seems like a problem with the sensor ...

The sensor uses three channels to create colour... RED / GREEN / BLUE... one of the pixels for one of the sensors is gone

Date/time issue on Canon EOS 350D

I was wondering the same when I first got my EOS. Learned later that the digital pictures do not have date/time stamp on the front of the photos like film cameras' photos. Details of digital photos are stored digitally in each image file's EXIF.

If you want to print photos showing the date/time, some software including Zoombrowser EX can do that. In Zoombrowser, select the photos you want to print. In Step 2 (Printer & Layout Settings), in the bottom left, you can choose Date and/or Time and even the colour of the font.

Canon 350d not turning on/screen not working/

Does the camera work properly with the CF card removed? If it does than the CF card is the problem. Try formatting the card with the camera or getting a new one.

The is a very small blue dot on my Canon xti screen

It can be regarded as normal, yes. All LCD screens will have a percentage of dead pixels, and no manufacturer will guarantee you get a dead-pixel screen on their products.

As you say it does not affect your photos and you can be assured it is not something that is going to get worse - it is a tiny manufacturing defect that is all, but within what they call acceptable limits.

If the camera is brand new you could always take it back and ask for another one, but they are within their rights (I believe) to say no for a single dead pixel.

How do you stop the date etc appearing on photo prints. Have a canon EOS 350D appreciate help June

Hi calendula,

Looking through FAQ on Canon's support website, it seems this option is something you must change within the software used to print the photos. Try searching for your model in their support site at and review the support advice for your camera there.

Dust on Canon 350D

I have some real experience of finding dusts and even moulds in-between the Low Pass Filter and the CMOS. So no matter how you "clean" the sensor "surface", the things inside are not affected. Very tedious you have to take out the CMOS and open up the Low Pass Filter to clean them. Nothing high-tech!
