You need to find out what motherboard is installed in your computer.
upon booting up your pc, it should display a string of number on the bottom of the screen. hit pause on your keyboard (normally top right hand of keyboard - near insert and PrtSc keys).
write down the numbers displayed on the bottom of the screen.
press any key to continue the boot process.
go to www.google.com and enter the numbers there. this way you can determine your motherboard type.
now go to you motherboard manufacturer website and search for the audio driver on that site.

1) Are you trying to install using Recovery CD and getting that error try installing Xp directly. 2) If you want to install Fresh windows, Boot pc with windows Xp and follow the instructions. And do full format your drive once where you want to install your XP, and continue installation..
Try using an win 98 startup disk on floppy and start your computer with disk in.Let it finish loading the drivers and then type in fdisk erase your partition and then make a new one. then restart the computer with floppy still in then this time type in format c:/ and format the drive after it is done then you can install win xp.But you need to repartition your hard drive and then format after that to get xp to install Oh yeah when you go to fdisk allow large drive usage
I formatted my hard drive and reinstall windows xp but no sound comes from speakers I tried to install audio drivers from the motherboard CD "foxconn" but PCI driver can not be installed what should i do?
windows xp cannot be installed on a system with pre loaded vista . because the boot loader of xp is older than vista as it cannot create boot loader . the order of installing operating systems is from LOWER 2 HIGHER ie XP to VISTA . first of all u nedd to format drive containing vista and then try installing xp
