i already tried the suggestions you described to no avail.
i didnt find any fuse in the amp, but i found in this post (http://www.fixya.com/support/t1456329-fo... ), that this amp has no fuse.
are there any other steps that i can take, to check if some particular part or circuit is damaged?

You should verify some other way (with a multimeter or another amp/device) that your 12V is working at the amp. Then to troubleshoot the Remote wire, take a short lead of scrap wire and run it from the 12V power input of the amp over to the Remote input like a jumper. If the amp still doesn't power up, then look for and check the fuse on the amp. If there's good power at the amp, the remote input has good power, and the amp doesn't turn on, and the fuse isn't blown, then the amp is probably toast. Good luck!

If you open the amp up (which it sounds like you have), the two things I would look for are burn marks or discoloration around the power supplies (mosfet most likely) along the edges. They're usually little squares that are directly attached to the heat sink/case of the amp. They're usually in straight lines along the outter edges. I would also look for capacitors that have blown. The most common capacitor type in an amp is the big cylinder/battery type. On the top of them, you'll normally find a small plus sign or cross. If any of these are "popped" open, then the cap is blown. You could also smell the case for a burnt smell, this usually lingers around for quite a while if the case is kept closed.

I need to wire up a rockford fosgate punch hx2 12" subwoofer to a 500 watt single channel amp and i need to know how to wire the dual voice coil properly ??

Wire it in a series. One wire from amp positive to one positive speaker terminal. One wire from amp negative to negative speaker terminal. This should leave one positive and one negative termianl on the sub. Use one additonal wire to connect these two, this wire should not be connected to anything else other than the two remaining terminals. This will allow you to have the music up louder with higher amp settings without having to worry about blowing the speaker as easily.

There is no reset button on the amp.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low. If both are above 12v, the amp will require servicing.

You may have open shields on the head unit. You need to check continuity between the shield and the case of the head unit. The following page shows you how to do it.

Absence of sound

If you have another amp in the vehicle, swap the RCAs and speakers to see if you get sound through the other amp.

Generally, if the red light is on and there is no significant DC on the speaker terminals, the amp is in good working order (for the older Rockford amps).

if i understand correctly its possible that the amp shorted out during the bump...check all connections and fuses, if all is fine then the amp needs repaired.....watch out for those bumps next time.

Good luck. Rockford Fosgate does not sell or release any service parts/diagrams AT ALL. They want you to buy a new one or send it in to them to be repaired at an exhorbitant price. Also, from my experience, most RF amps are unrepaairable due to their construction design. the outputs are case soldered and cannot be removed individually. Time to upgrade.
