Question about D-Link 802.11g Wireless Router WBR-1310 (WBR1310)

1 Answer

Using a wireless router through Comcast and other PC's and newer Macs can access the system fine. When I try to use older macs (802.11b vs. 802.11g), it says connected but then it tries to 'get status' and drops off.

You need to set the router to accept "b" and "g" connections in the online router settings.

When router is connected to D-link modem, no internet service for Macs or PC through Comcast. Had router tested at Apple store, and it tested fine. Comcast says it is a "router problem" but this occured...

Try running this test... I got it from a Comcast technician who came out when I had same problem.
Look for any failures or anomolies. Look at the signal page and check to make sure the signal to noise ratio is in the 30's or low 40's. If higher, call Comcast and tell them.

Problems setting up new macs and a new wireless system with a PC

The MAC address of the network card on the PC is probably registered with Tiscali. The easiest thing to do is to Connect the Belkin router to the internet, then go into the config and clone the MAC address of the windows PC. Once this is done, then you can either plug in the airport express, or configure wifi for the Macs from the belkin.

Belkin N router will not let Mac notebook connect now that N/G/B is enabled

The router does not care what brand of computer that wants access, only a MAC address. If you can see it in the wireless scan then you have a configuration setting to resolve. Steve Medley

Have you tried e-mailing Belkin Customer Support? I had a similar problem, with my PC, they sent the info I needed and I was on line in under 6 minutes (this after spending many frustrating hours scouring the internet).
