Connecting a USB device
You can connect a USB mass storage class device
such as a USB memory, Digital Audio Player etc. to
the unit.
• For details about connecting USB devices, see
page 70 .
• You cannot connect a computer or portable HDD
to the USB input terminal.
• For playable file types and notes on using USB
devices, see page 75.
When a USB device is connected...
The source changes to
"USB"
and playback starts.
• All tracks in the USB device will be played
repeatedly until you change the source.

Playable files on a USB device
• This unit can play the following types of files
stored in a USB mass storage class device.
- JPEG/BMP/PNG/MPEG1/MPEG2/MP3/WMA/
WAV/AAC/FLAC/H.264/WMV (VC-1)
• This unit can recognize a total of 5 000 files and
250 folders (a maximum of 999 files per folder).
• Make sure all important data has been backed up
to avoid losing the data.
Notes on using a USB device:
• This unit may not play back files in a USB device
properly when using a USB extension cable.
• USB devices equipped with special functions such
as data security functions cannot be used with the
unit.
• Do not use a USB device with 2 or more partitions.
• Depending on the shape of the USB devices and
connection ports, some USB devices may not be
attached properly or the connection might be
loose.
• This unit may not recognize a memory card
inserted into the USB card reader.
• When connecting with a USB cable, use the USB
2.0 cable.
The maximum number of characters (when the characters are 1 byte):
- Folder names: 128 characters
- File names: 128 characters
• Avoid using the USB device if it might affect
driving safety.
• Do not pull out and connect the USB device
repeatedly while "Reading" is shown on the
screen.
• Electrostatic shock at connecting a USB device
may cause abnormal playback of the device. In this
case, disconnect the USB device then reset this
unit and the USB device.
• Operation and power supply may not work as
intended for some USB devices.
• Do not leave a USB device in the car, or expose to
direct sunlight or high temperatures to prevent
deformation or damage to the device

There is a problem with the printer random-access memory (RAM) or read-only memory (ROM). The DIMM that caused the error is not used. Values of x, y, and zz, are as follows:
x = DIMM type
0 = ROM
1 = RAM
y = Device location
0 = Internal memory (ROM or RAM)
1 to 3 = DIMM slot 1, 2, or 3
zz = Error number
0 = Unsupported memory (for example, presence detect bad)
We had the same problem but it was HP printer. After we installed the software this error kept coming up.It turned out that in our case it was the USB cable that we were using..so check that first...use another cable...we did and the problem went away...
there might be a problem on your USB cable, a little rust could make some problems to your connections, try replacing it or have your technician check your cellphone
The GPX ML638B takes only AMV files for video. you have to use the utilities tool that comes with it to convert video files. or find one online if you prefer. also you can download pre exsisting AMV format movies to load into it. just be sure its in a USB mode and load directly onto the 1st area when you open its designated drive location. as for Mp3's no conversion is needed. simply load em onto the device. remember. video and pictures requre it to be set in USB mode (mode button on its side) and music out of USB mode. while plugged into the PC on its screen will show USb on lower left of screen when its in usb mode. and wont show if its out of it.
The user has not described the operating system in use.
However this problem generally occurs due to incompartible hardware. in this case it is ever stated. ie. Network interface Device. I suggest you disconnect the Network devices including cables, then try to reboot.
