Check 12V supply and fuses on lower board. If display functions okay, then look for yellow residue on back of refrigerator near burner. If yes, then cooling unit has leaked and needs to be replaced. See if recall kit has been installed, and check for 12V at both sides of limit switch. If no power on either side, then thermal link has blown, and need to be replaced, If 12V on one side, but not the other, than limit is tripped, and needs to be reset, by pushing button, or if not resetting, then replace, Check for obstructions to the bottom and top vent to make sure they are not blocked, On models with top side vent, check cooling fan for proper operation.

SOURCE: my dometic fridge will not turn on

Check to see if you have a switch for storage, on, off etc. usually between doors, or near top right corner of fridge compartment. It may be in wrong position.

SOURCE: Have dometic fridge RM2553. Has

Hi.

The safety mechanism will still be working. The only case it won't be working is when the safety mechanism itself is causing the problem. In that case there will be no risk because flame will be forced to turn off.

The indicator on red is telling you that the fridge is not cooling. It does not affect the safety of your Dometic.

The safety mechanism in your Dometic works using a thermocouple and a safety valve. When either of this will fail the gas flame will turn off, and the fridge will stop cooling. The safety mechanism works even when it is broken, as it does not allow gas valve opening.

About poor cooling, there are a number of reason that may result in insufficient cooling with this kind of fridge.

Check if there is flame, if there is no flame, then testing will start from igniter, coil, flame sensor and safety valve.
Ensure that there is enough ventilation.Thermostat and cooling unit must be tested if flame operations are OK.
On LP gas, check filter. Check pressure regulator and gas from the lines.

Low flame on a 2600 dometic fridge/ flame is not enuff to keep fridge cold

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Download this manual:
http://www.dometic.com/9efb3e8b-c980-4383-952c-996a35e3c872.fodoc Go to page 12 for burner cleaning. Clean the burner and the gas orifice (jet) thoroughly. If after cleaning you still have the problem you may have to remove the solenoid vavle and clean out the gas safety valve. The manual also mentions checking LP gas pressure. A weak LP regulator will cause a low flame. I would clean it first... and if you still have a low flame check / replace the LP regulator before tearing into the gas safety valve.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Just bought a tent trailer with a Dometic Fridge.

You need to make sure that you follow the manufacturer's recommendations for using the unit with each specific power source. It's important that you have the all switches in the proper position, based on what power source you're using.

Here's the manual for your model, save a copy and print it out and take some time to review the section #3 Operating Instructions on page 6.

Hope you find this helpful and will resolve your issue.

Dometic RM2193 Works on 120V, but not on gaz. I succeded in cleaning the burner jet and I get a flame. It ligth well now but the flame very small. The frig doesn't cool. Help ?

These fridges require that the control switches be in the correct position for the power source you want to use. If you try to operate the fridge on gas and have the electric 120V-AC switch on, all you'll get is the gas pilot light to stay lit. Also, when running on gas, the electric has to be off.

Here's a link to the manual for your unit. Print a copy and save an electronic one for future use, in case you lose your printout.

Hope having the manual helps you to get the fridge working on all the power sources you need! Best regards!

Chescold caravan fridge 3 way fridge, (out on the bench not in a van) works well on 240V but not on gas. Pilot looks good, fridge is level, I have tried inverting the fridge as suggested. No luck. I can't...

Yep same prob as my Chescold model RC1180. I pulled the entire gas circuit apart as the fridge works well on 240v haven`t yet sussed the 12v.
I suspected the thermostat ( on the gas side ) there is a tiny jet on the side of the aluminium block at the base of the electric thermostat, also another springloaded 'valve' at the bottom of the aluminium block. The ' valve' is actuated by the thermostat Dial, as it screws a pin down onto a plate which departs from an O' Ring seal letting gas into the chamber where the tiny Jet is seated. This tiny Jet meters the gas to the Pilot burner.
Anyway ' That' wasn`t the problem! lol
The Problem was a 'Clogged Pilot flame Jet'
Fix..... I stripped as piece of fine electrical wire 12v and cleaned the jet out. It is a # 26.
The Jet itself looks like it has been 'Stamped' out rather than Drilled, this may account for some fridges working better on gas than others as there seem s to be some distortion on the Jet Orifice. I will buy a new Jet and a #26 drill and replace the original one.
I am just testing the fridge on Gas now...going like a Trojan... bonus is ive got a little 3 sausage hot plate over the Gas exhaust and am cooking dinner while the beer is getting colder !
