Rear bearing on drum has snapped is it repairable

Rear bearing on drum has snapped, the threaded bolt is showing not sure if some of it has been sheared off,is it repairable and what parts do i need

The bearing shaft is bolted on the bulkhead depending on the make and model. Provide these and I can be more specific.... Eric

There is one bearing in rear tub/bearing is part of rear tub...To repair that unit you will need a rear tub/inner basket with spindal and possible a front tub if it damaged..If i was you I would price the parts b/c you may not want to repair it as it can be costly .....Good luck

How do you take the inner drum out of a Frigidaire front loading washer?


Make sure you have plenty of well-lit space to work as well as lay out the parts removed. Remove the cabinet top by removing several screws from the rear, slide it back somewhat, then lift up. Remove the back panel by removing screws along the top rear, then lift up. Pull loose the rubber boot (it's glued to the cabinet front opening as well as to the outer drum face) CAREFULLY from the front panel opening. After uncoupling the drum motor, wiring, hoses, and suspension components, lift out the entire outer drum assembly. The case splits after removing a handful of bolts from the split circumference. Remove the large drum pulley and any snap-rings holding the large shaft in place. The inner drum should pull out of the rear case, but leave the bearings and seal in the case. The inner bearing and seal are prone to failure over time. The official fix is to replace the rear case (with new seal and bearings) for some 300 to 400 dollars. We chose to replace the bearing and seal from a local bearing supply house for about $16. It's still working well after over 10 years. Assemble in reverse order. Use 3M automotive trim cement for gluing the rubber boot back to the cabinet front. Hope this helps!

Replacing a rear wheel bearing 1996 gmc sonoma 5 speed what all is involved does the axle have to come out or can you just take wheel and brakes drum off etc.


To remove the rear axle to replace a bearing you have to remove the rear differential cover and remove the small retaining bolt holds the spider gear shaft in place and then slide this shaft out far enough to remove the "C" shaped axle shaft retaining clip. Once this clip is off then the axle can be slid out and the bearing & seal replaced. Make sure that none of the spider gears or thrust washers behind them get out of place and you should use a new retaining bolt when reassembling the differential components as they come [or should come this way] with thread locker to prevent them from coming loose.

raise van take off wheel you must use jackstands or support your van securly its going to rock alot Take off the four bolts located on the back side of the bearing then take out the small bolt from the speed sensor also located in behind the bearing remove the speed sensor. you will need a large mechanics hammer or heavy blunt object. beat the bearing from the back side dont worry about the cog attached you new bearing has one. dont listen to your hanyes or chiltons manuals thanks.

drum brakes you remove rear wheel- speed sensor-grease cap-flange nut-outer bearing-brake drum-inner grease seal-inner bearing-drive the bearing races out of the drum hub.to install -install the inner and outer bearing races.apply grease to the bearings and hub cavity.then you install the inner bearing -inner grease seal-brake drum-outer bearing-flange nut torque it to 159 to 192 ft lbs. THE REAR DISC BRAKE WHEEL BEARINGS-you have to remove rear wheel -wheel speed sensor-brake caliper and rotor-rear axle hub bolts-tone the wheel with tool 09445-21000-carrier assembly-nut after unstaking it-press out the rear axle hub-remove the bearing inner race with tool 09445-21000-remove the bushings from the carrier with tools 09453-33000b and 09545-21100.to install -press in the bushings to the carrier with tools 09453-33000b and 09545-21100- press in the bearings to the hub with tool 09221-21000.tighten the flange nut to meet the concave portion of the spindle-press in the tone wheel with tool 09221-21000-torque the nut to 191 ft lbs -install the hub and bearing assembly to the backing plate and torque the bolts to 88 ft lbs-install the brake caliper and rotor.install the wheel speed sensor if equipped.install the rear wheel.TO BUY THE TOOLS TO DO THE JOB.LOOK UP KENT MOORE TOOLS ON INTERNET.

Having difficulty removing rear brake drum on 2003 Suzuki Aerio.


Yes the phillips head screws have to be removed, on some models there are two more holes in the face of the drum to insert threaded bolts to remove the drum, simply thread the bolts in to remove the drum.

Removing rear drum


You need to get a bolt with the same diameter and thread pitch as the brake drumretaining screws. On my 1997 Escort that's an 8mm x 1.25 thread pitch bolt. The length should be about 12mm. or larger. Don't get a bolt that's longer than about 20mm. The bolt goes into a hole in the brake drum, bearing down on a plate inside the hub. You can't use a brake drum retaining screw because you need to be able to apply more torque to the fastener than could be safely applied to a jacked vehicle

Replace drum bearing


To complete this repair correctly and to prevent problem re occuring within months you must change the inner drum spider at the same time as the bearing kit, otherwise you are wasting your time, to complete the repair if you have not done one before will take you aprox 1 to 3 hours depending on space available and practicle ability, here goes, remove lid and outer case from machine to do this remove bolts on lower back and two side bolts (under small white covers) remove bolts along top edges both sides on top of macnine, remove cabinet, remove motor, remove hoses, remove heater and thermostat wires, noting location for refitting, remove suspension leg pins and lift outer drum assembly complete fron lower frame, split two halves of outer drum by removing bolts around centre seem, split drum in two, remove drum pully, refit pully bolt and drift inner drum out having put nut back on drum spider thread to avoid flaring shaft, using hammer knock shaft through bearings, then using a chisel or similer object knock out bearings and seal, reverse process refitting new bearins and spider, make sure to replace centre outer drum seal, as these are prone tro leaking I suggest you also seal with a layer of clear silicon, and problems contact me again, not really a job for a novice.
