Question about Sony CMT-MD1 Shelf System
Strange one, this, and I can't quite work out what's wrong. The CD player on my CMT-MD1 plays some CDs fine, but refuses to play others. The disc spins up, then a clicking is heard, and it slows, then speeds up again, clicks, and so on. The strangest thing is that it's fairly consistent -- I can take out a non-working CD, play one that works, put the first one back in and it refuses again.
P.S. I'm talking about commercial CDs, not CD-Rs or anything else.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If they're clean (i.e. not scratched up or dirty) store-bought CDs (burnt CDs can be iffy in some players), then yes you should return it.

It could be 3 things.
1. the Laser carrier may be stuck and may need to be gently pried from centre to outskirt and back.
2. your cd spinning motor has gone and needs to be replaced,
3. your laser carrier motor has gone and needs to be replaced,
hope it helps.
