Plumbing espresso machine

I would like to plumb my ecm giotto direct to water line. Is there a kit I need for this? What is the proper way to do this? Thanks!

If this machine has a tank you fill for the the water it most likely will need some sort of lvl probe and inlet fill solanoid installed. best to check with manufacturer and see if your model originally had a model that could be hooked directly to water if not i would contact the company and see if they have the parts and if the control board in the machine has a fill circuit.

SOURCE: ECM Giotto Premium (S/N 20030100413, purchased May 2003)

Often the problem is the reservoir sensors think the water tank is empty. The metal rods that go into the white plastic tank are the sensors, and they contact the sides of the machine to provide an electrical ground. The water needs to be normal tap water, distilled water will not conduct...
At any rate, the fix is to simply jiggle the tank left to right to roughen up or clean the contact between the sensors and the body of the machine. Within a few minutes the machine should start to heat up, now that it knows you have water.
Hope that helps!

SOURCE: No Pressure..No heat

Se my solution re no heat on page. pressostate or microswitch fail is easy to fix. many times the water tank is bebt out of shape with time. A twisted tank lift one side and tank is no longer resting on four points. This cause no contact with electrodes inside tank saying = no water = no power allowed. The GROUND must be established! A small piece of alu foil rolled to a ball will help to ground the electrode again. Lift the tank gently and find the two v - shaped contacts for the electrodes. Have also replaced the electronic box once :-( on friends ECM /// olev

SOURCE: wet grounds

What you see is condensed stem comming out and no water. The pump is not sucking from the tank as ther is an air bubble in suction line. Still want coffe and don't want to clean your machine??? Flick up the lever with no group in place. Steam comes first then nothing. Pump is running and - voila - water comes as air bubble is gone. (Specially the first cup , never the following ones.) Now put back the group and brew your espresso. The machine is full of scale and neds total clean - by hand./// Olev

SOURCE: ECM Giotto group gasket and shower plate falling out

I am assuming that you have basket style shower which sits in the gasket and then inserts in the group.
Find the small bevel edge on the gasket, make sure that side is facing up, place gasket on table then insert shower in gasket, then lift gasket, until it sits at the top of the shower(use a small flat screwdriver or a small hard brush to clean the group where the gaskets seats), then insert gasket and shower in group. Push in as far as you can then use the portafilter to seat the gasket in all the way.

If your shower is the flat style then there should be a hole in the middle for a screw.

Did you find a solution yet?
If your machine isn't plumbed in, so you have to fill the reservoir, I find it is easy to overfill, and the water runs out over the lip. I placed a fishing float with the long bit sticking up through the hole, so I can see when the water level is too low.

Help w/ ECM Giotto. pump doesn't turn on when pulling lever

Replace the magnets in the water tank, the reed switch is not reading one of them, most likely the safety or bottom magnet.

HI
Make sure that the water level probes are touching the machine to ground themselves. Push down on the probes, and see if the machine comes on. With out looking at it I don't know what else to tell you.
