First try a different outlet, you never know.

More likely is that you may need to replace the power switch on the machine. Call the Dyson Helpline - they will find an authorized repair dealer in your area who will be able to inspect the power switch and replace it for you.

SOURCE: On turning on different noise then noticed smell

Unfortunately your motor had burnt up..most times this is due to not cleaning or replacing the filters...the filters get dirty and the motor gets no airflow to cool it....very common on dyson vacs

How to clean dyson dc 33 filters

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33 has two washable filters, engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. These should be washed at least once every 3 months using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them.

Our online Support guide will walk you through each step: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc33/dc33-multi-floor/dc33-maintaining-your-dyson-machine/wash-the-filters/filter-removal-step-1

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further advice from our experts you're welcome to give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Dyson problems

I have a DC-07 Animal and I have taken it apart many a time and cleaned at least the plastic parts. Its all modular. I would just make sure nothing is clogged.. Remember the Hepa filter is not washable just the sponge filter. So if you took out the filter and left in the Helpa filter I would order a new Hepa filter - its probably clogged by now! Beat of luck!

Suction, after cleaning every part/filter, is virtually non-existant, other than the motor (which works very well) when reassembled various times, I get a big 0 for performance. PO'd in Tx. DC-07 seemes...

Hi,

Did you dry the filter for 12 hours before reinstalling and giving a go? Most suction problems are from a blockage of some kind. The Dyson website seems to think it's the filter.
Here is a website which has instructions on washing the filter: http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1464&product=DC07-SY-HEPA_US

Hope this works for you. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

Handie Andie
