Question about Mitsuba DV505 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Outdoor photos are all over exposed and white. Video works fine.

The camera is over exposing all photos where there is sufficient light. The image looks fine on the LCD screen. But when the shutter is pressed, the captured image on the LCD screen is all washed out. For indooe photos, a small indicator comes on in the LCD screen saying that there may not be enough light for a proper exposure. But the photo is way over exposed. When you move the camera from a low light to a bright area or bright to dim, you can see the scree brightening or dimming like the iris is adjusting open or closed in slow steps, almost as if a mechanical iris was sticking as it was moving.

When i take picture, the picture is white n some time become very very bright, but if take video is ok.

this can be usually associated with your white balance in still camera mode.
Check to see your white balance is set correctly or just set it to auto. Also make sure the mode you are in it set. (ie. indoor, outdoor, auto, speed)

CCD is going for Failure !

it starts like this first indoor ok and outdoor over exposed then
indoor pics also when u see them closely turns pink or green in shades then horizontal vert lines appear then completely blank

just check with casio if they have issued service advisory for the CCD failure problem as all others have issued they will do it free of charge

Pictures Becomes white (Excess Exposer or ISO)

I'm not clear about your last sentence. It sounds like you may have accidentally set the camera to use exposure compensation to over-expose the images. To reset this, see page 27 in your user manual. If you don't have the user manual you can download it here from Kodak. If you said in your last sentence that this is not the case, I apologize for not understanding you clearly.

If this is not the case, then the light meter in the camera may be malfunctioning, telling the camera that it doesn't have enough light.

1) Make sure the light sensor is clean. This is the lower of the 2 small light buttons on the front of the camera, to the left of the lens as you face the camera. If that doesn't help try:

2) Use a - setting in Exposure Compensation to under expose the images to compensate for the damaged light meter.

If neither of these help, then it needs to be sent in for repair, or replaced. (If the camera is out of warranty it is likely that the repair cost will exceed the value of the camera and you should simply buy a new camera.)
