Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

The oven will turn on and get warm (not up to set temp)not as hot as it should. I no longer hear the forced air noise from the fan/blower from the back of the oven? It will not cook food, in the time frame that it has before. Instead of it cooking Frozen Apple Dumplings at 400 degrees for 1 Hour (12 Apples) it will only defrost the Apple inside and the crust is glossy and raw? This is a 220/15 amp 3000 watt oven. Thank You for your help!

Vent on oven does came on by itself. The oven is hot and the vent does not go off.

The oven MAY have a thermal switch that forces the fan on when hot.

If it stays on when fully cool then there is a problem.

Yesterday my GE JE1390WA, stopped working. After being dead for about 30 minutes it came back on, but sounds like a fan is continuosly running and says RESET. If I do nothing it makes fan noise for a while...

Please disconnect the set, open the cover of the oven , then the front panel assembly. Inspect carefully for any signs of insect/ coakroaches within the set, if so use a good blower to clean the inside, use a hot air dryer to warm for any insect dirt. once you have finished checking for any loose connections and the clean status, close the cover back and check on the set. If it does not work well try settting the clock and test. Hope this helps. Good day.

Heater is blowing cold air

Check the fan switch on thermostat, set to auto. Check control board for error code. Sounds like an over temp. on the unit, it will blow the fan until the unit is cool or there is a problem with either the hi limit switch or control board failure. If the board fails they default to run the blower continuosly.

Ace 208 comes up with "hot" in display amana tech say not possible no code like this

Hello I´ve repaired a couple of ACE208 with hot message in the display. The problem is in the convection fan located on the back of the oven cavity, turn the oven on and quickly open the door and look inside to see if the fan is spinning (slowing down, the fan stopps when you open the door but you can see it slowing down) if it is not spinning the supporting screws of the fan sometimes loosen up causing the fan to hit the oven walls preventing the fan to spin freely -probably before the problem started to happen you could hear a loud noise- the fan can´t move the air throgh the warming elements causing them to overheat hence the hot message. The fan motor rarely fails so all you need to do is remove the stainless steel cover and the back black cover and tighten the mounting screws of the convection fan and clean it if it´s dirty. Hope this helps, both the ovens with hot message I have repaired get the green tag just by doing this or replacing the motor, I have no knowledge of other problems that may cause this.

I have a sharp Carousel II Convection Microwave Oven. The fan never shuts off. Is there a fix for this?

There is a temp sensor inside that turns the fan on if it thinks the air is too warm under the unit. That sensor needs replacement.

GE Microwave Profile Spacemaker Runs on its own

Your microwave turning on by itself is a "self preservation feature" of the GE Profile Advantium and maybe some other models. Read the manual, When your over the range oven gets warm enough, for whatever reason the venting fan comes on until a satisfactory oven temperature is reached. You are not permitted to shut the vent fan off. Also it seems a temperature near room temp must be achieved before it shuts the fan motor off, it is very annoying. We had to return our Advantium because of fan noise. I configured the ovens vent fan to the recirculate direction because we do not have a vent duct that exits the house over our range. When the vent fan acting as the ovens cooling fan automatically turned on we would have to leave the house to hear each other talk. Too bad we really liked the oven other than that major problem. Hotpoint microwave exhaustive fan combined unit - fan not working

Do you feel air flow? That's the key.

Most microwaves have the exhaust fan assembly at the back edge, not up front immediately behind the grille / vent.

Post back if you can give us more detail or have other questions.
