Question about Boating

1 Answer

When the starter is engaged it will crand for a few secounds and then it seems that the battery is going dead, but I also have a secoundary battery set up and when I use the other battery I get the same results. The voltage output to the battery is over 14volts, so this is more than enough to recharge the battery. I had the batterys tested and thay are ok.

My Snapper NXT2346 just stopped while mowing checked battery is ok, no power to starter or safety switch, changed fuse, seat switch check seemed to be ok - any suggestions?

Those tractors have a few safety switches and they all have to be engaged in a closed position for you to have ignition and have unit operate. Did you check the obvious ? - ignition switch?

If it just stopped dead while you were mowing then the ignition had to have been interrupted. That switch powers both the starter and ignition circuits.

No power,

sounds like the alternator is not charging the battery and as a result your battery is now also faulty. also be sure to check that the battery clamps are tight on the battery when you start the Runner. check your ignition switch that could also be faulty, the reason i say that is it might not make contact when you turn the key and that could also be y there looks like no power. hope it helps

Sounds like a battery connection, try this ,turn the headlights on,have someone watch or whatever, try to start it,if the lights go out,it's a poor connection(probably at the battery) if they stay on,it's a starter issue.

Replace the solenoid and/or starter as there is a short internally that is allowing the solenoid to engage the pinion and engage the power to the starter armature.. Everything you have mentioned points to a starter problem

Starter wont engage after replacing dead battery

Check power to starter motor solenoid, solenoid operation and starter motor voltage during cranking. If the starter motor is receiving power from the solenoid, but isn't cranking, then replace the starter motor.

Also check the condition of battery terminals, wiring and connections. Also check the earth wire from the body to the engine.

Have your battery tested to start the fact that the radio and lights work are not an indicator that the battery is good. if in fact battery is good and you hear a click and nothing else then make sure you got power at starter from ignition switch and power going to the actual starter motor while some one holds the key in the crank position. Do this safely. the starter should have power on the B+ terminalwhich comes directly from the battery. It also gets power when in the crank position to engage the solenoid in the Igniton terminal when engaged the power from B+ is tranfer to the the starter motor which in turn turns the engine if this isnt happening for you replace the starter

The battery seems strong. at first it the starter "clicked" continuously but would not engage. After several times, it now clicks once and the dashboard lights flash while the key is engaged.

If your battery is dead thats how it does, Just clicking, But if you are sure the battery is strong then Take a hammer and tap little bit on the starter while somebody is cranking or just tap on it then crank it yourself. Good luck

My 2005 auto 535d wont start or even turn over at all, the battery is charged and all the dash/lights etc come on although we did discover a pool of water in the battery tray (is this common?) but this...

Hi the problem your having is going to be with the starter motor if when you turn the key the cars engine dont turn over at all you might here a faint clicking sound as you try turning the key to start the car, if the car is totally dead and the battery is good then this indicates that the starter motor is at fault.

You could try giving the starter motor a few hard hits with an hammer this often frees up the starter allowing you to start the car but it might take a few hard hits just to get it working this is not a permanent fix doing this it might get the car started but after a while the problem will come back so replacing the starter is the only long term option.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
