I can't connect my ipod to the internet

If you're having trouble with your wifi connection, try to follow this steps.

* iPod Touch shows no WiFi address (Tap Settings > General > About and scroll down to WiFi Address.
* iPod touch appears to be connected to a WiFi network but cannot use Wi-Fi for checking email and surfing the Internet.
* iPod Touch WiFi icon is showing as grayed out.
* When you tap Settings > WiFi and then you see no network entries.

If you have wireless problems, here is another method to do.

First you need to back up your data by syncing your iPod touch to iTunes. It is very important you do this before proceeding with the fixes below.

1. On the iPod Touch go to Settings > General > Reset and then select Reset Network Settings. Now see if the device displays the WiFi address under Settings > General > About and scrolling down to WiFi Address. If there is a WiFi address listed then you issue is resolved. Else try method 2 below.

2. On the iPod Touch go to Settings > General > Reset and then select Erase All Content and Settings. Now see if the device displays the WiFi address under Settings > General > About and scrolling down to WiFi Address. If there is a WiFi address listed then you issue is resolved. Else try method 3 below.

3. If the above fixes don't work then the only thing left is to restore the iPod touch software using iTunes which will erase all data on the device. So before restoring make sure you back up your data by syncing with iTunes.

After the restore is complete, you can resync with iTunes to load the data back to your iPod Touch. Now see if your device shows a WiFi address (tap Settings > General > About and scroll down to WiFi Address). If none of the above settings and fixes work ,then you might want to consider getting your iPod touch repaired by Apple.

Ok, So my friend wanted to trade iPods, it was not stolen, and it is disabled, and its not connected to any wifi thingy, so when i got to plug it into itunes it says, THIS IPOD IS NOT RECOGNIZABLE, IT IS...

You can try putting it into DFU mode and restoring the firmware
here's how you put the ipod into DFU mode - connect your ipod touch to your computer - turn off your ipod touch - press and hold the Home button and sleep/wake button at the same time - After about 10 seconds release the sleep/wake button but continue holding the Home button until the iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an ipod in recovery mode - now you will be able to restore it..

IPod touch Wifi problem. I got a new iPod touch 4g and my dad got new pocket wifi so I tried to connect my iPod to the internet and it would work for about five minutes but then it would disconnect...

hi this sounds like the pocket wifi firewall or push is stopping you from connecting, it will show connection when the password is put in correctly, but unless your either ip, or mac address is registered with the unit it will not let you connect to the net, you will have to see if there is a start ip and an end ip address in the wifi unit, as this might have restrictions to ip address numbers..for example..wifi ip start address might be 192.168.0.1 and wifi end address might be 192.168.0.4 where as your ipod might have an ip address of 192.168.0.7 ( just an example ) so even though the password is ok, it will let you connect for that few seconds, as it has verified the password and is correct, but the ip handling has not allowed you access and the firewall then steps in and blocks you.... hope this helps

I have a 8gb itouch the WiFi section is greyed out and it says no wifi my firmware is 1.1.5 please help

If the WiFi section is grayed out. then this is generally a failure with the wifi antenna. sometimes it can just be the software. A restore using itunes will tell you a lot - if you restore and wifi is still grayed out the you ipod has a hardware issue you need to get it repaired

restore instructions

My ipod touch fell and now it wont even let me click wifi. it just says no wifi.

Congratulations!! your on your way to putting this thing into paper weight mode.  If your within your one year warranty, put on your dumb and dumber mask and go into the Apple store and tell them your wi-fi don't work and you don't know why.  They will exchange the thing out for a shiny new one if they can't figure it out and you should thank them profusely.  Then go on ebay and buy a product called incase that will protect the ipod when you drop it.  Ebay prices are the lowest for the incase product.

Wifi grey area

Here is a way that solved the problem for me.
Downgrade the ipod touch to firmware 1.1.4. You have to put your ipod into DFU mode ('not recovery mode) and you have to have an itunes version that supports this old firmware. 7.5 oder 7.7 i think.
to load your own firmware you simply hold the shift-button while you push the restore button.

After you have firmware 1.1.4 on your ipod touch, download the jailbreaker "Ziphone". This programm has the option to fix the "no Wifi" problem. Look in the advanced options.
In my case, this was the only thing that solved the problem. I tried restoring it often but nothing worked.
After Ziphone fixed your Problem, you can update the Touch to the latest firmware. Wifi was still working, at least for me

Itouch wifi connectivity

Go to your computer and type in 192.168.1.1 it should take you to your router's main menu. Then search for something like Wireless Conection or Wireless Config, it should then tell you your roouter's name and password.
