I have vista, (Laptop) and I was given a HP

An HP Laserjet 4 is really old iron.

You might try to use one of the HP Universal Drivers for PCL5.

What is the error that you get?

I can't print out with my 1160 and computer

Always try downloading the appropriate driver first, but if it just doesn't work you can always use the postscript version of the HP Laser-jet 4 driver in the Windows driver list and still get most functionality under Vista on almost all HP laser printers.

HP laserjet 4 M Plus

Hi,

One thing HP recommends is to download the "Windows XP" drivers for your printer and to manually install your printer using those drivers. Also, make sure the cable that you have is in working order.

The link is http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=15026&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=25484&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20%BB Just click on "windows XP" to get the drivers.

Windows vista does not seem to recognize HP 4P printer

WOW!? HP4P... I don't think you'll find a Vista Driver for that printer.

Try www.hp.com in the downloads section.

Good luck from a crusty old HP Printer Tech.

My operating system is windows vista. I downloaded the drivers for HP laserjet 4000 but the printer won't print. It shows that the printer is ready but does not respond.

1. Try downloading the vista compatible printer driver from the hp website.

2. If the above solution doesn't work try uninstalling the printer software and reinstalling it.
