Question about Hotpoint Washing Machines
Hi. i have recently bought a second hand hotpoint wm53 washing machine it works fine. recently when the cycle reaches the rinse stage it is cutting off the power to all my downstairs plug sockets. any time after this that i try and turn it on it will keep tripping the switches. after a period of time (a day or so) it will start working again but the problem will recur. the machine also makes a lot of noise when spinning i dont know if this is normal or attributed to the problem. hope you can help.
Unplug the motor and try it again, if it does not trip, then the prob is the motor, could be worn carbons.
Re the noise, remove belt, and spin drum round by hand, if it is noisy and rumbling, then main bearings have failed, quite a big job to put right.
