What is internal packaging and what needs to stay? Frigidaire AC

I just bought a Frigidaire FAM157S1A window AC. After it is already out of the box and you remove the base from the cabinet, the instructions say to remove all internal packaging from the unit. The picture is unclear, but I can make out some plastic ties close to the motor that I did not even have. There is some black styrafoam around the coils on my unit and a strange putty type material. I feel like both of these things could melt or catch fire, so I feel like they should be removed, but am unsure.

It is not obvious!! i just bought the same unit.the picture is not clear! the foam behind the radiator in the front looks like it is a part of the unit and should not be ripped out.i tore mine out and messed up the unit .it is either for noise reduction or a cooling box for the air ?? the manual is not clear.also why would they make a unit that you need to tear apart by removing factory installed assemblies to get at foam. this foam is engineered to fit perfectly around all the peaces and i say it stays! this is a very crappy problem that i blame the producer for not making crystal clear. i worked for a major tooling co for most of my life and i have never seen anything so un clear with the info they provide.

It should be pretty apparent what comes off the unit. Pop the front cover by the filter and remove any styrofoam, paper and ties that might be there. Also make sure to remove anything that would prevent the coils from breathing properly. Its really simple, dont complicate it anymore than need be and worry yourself, everything that comes out is obvious.

Ho to turn off the timer on a frigidare airconditioner

Good Afternoon Friend, thank you for your post!

I know you would are seeking information on how to turn off the timer on your Frigidaire air conditioner. In order to provide you the correct instructions, I would need your model number please. The serial tag, which lists your model number, is typically located behind the front grill by the air outlet or on the side of the cabinet. Other possible locations are on the front edge of the chassis base or behind the dial plate of the control panel. Thank you! - Z

Thermostat will not cycle compressor temperature

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that the thermostat is not cycling the compressor on and off on your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAM157S1A. Please check the temperature sensing element to see if it is touching a cold coil. This will be located behind the air filter. Straighten away from the coil if it is touching. The other possibility is the compressor shut-off by changing modes. Wait approximately 3 minutes and listen for compressor to restart when set in the COOL mode. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Dehumidifier smells stinky

Have you read its manual?

It says (p8):

Care and Cleaning
1. Filter
a. Remove the filter every two weeks based on normal operating conditions.
b. To remove the filter, remove Bucket then pull filter downwards.
c. Wash the filter with clean water then dry.
d. Re-install the filter, then replace Bucket.
2. Cabinet
a. Dust cabinet with an oil-free cloth, or using a damp cloth.
b. Vacuum grill using brush attachment.
3. Water Bucket
a. Clean bucket with warm water and detergent.

I recommend you to use a mix 75% water, 25 % vinegar. To clean its water bucket.

I bought a upright frigidaire model ffu2124dw7,serial# wb63943076.Bought it a year ago and I have found that within a short period of time there a substantial amount of ice build up on the cooling...

ice formation depends in part on how often and for how long door is open but also worthwhile checking the door seal with a slip of paper trapped between seal and cabinet
