Fuse blows after turning on control center

I have the same problem as these other people. I replace the fuse, then go to turn on the subwoofer. The subwoofer turns on fine (green light on back is on), however when I hook everything up and turn on the control center, everything immediately turns off. I go to check the fuse on the back of the sub, and it is completely fried. I have replaced at least 5 fuses, and tried multiple power sockets... still get same result. Does anyone know what is going on and can help out?!

I have a similar problem on the Gigaworks S750 system. Upon opening, I have found that the IC driving the switch mode power supply becomes basically a short, and that the transformer becomes damaged as a result there of as well. Then you have about 22 Ohms connected to your mains (after the bridge rectifier) which causes the fuse to blow. Is there anyone that can assist with a circuit diagram for this system, or of contact details as to where I can find out what the specifications of the transformer is? Can not seem to find any technical assistance in South Africa

What you have there is a defected system. What you need to do is take it in and get it replaced if it's under warranty still. If it's out of warranty then you will have to buy a new system. The power converter that is in the unit has gone bad and is not doing the job that it's supposed to do.

Why isn't my Logitech Z-5300 speaker system no longer turning on at all?

I have a suggestion that you can try. If the unit is no longer turning on and you're sure the electrical outlet is good (by plugging in another device) and the hand-held control panel is on, as well as the switch at the base of the subwoofer, then try replacing the fuse. The subwoofer on this model has a fuse near where the power cord enters the subwoofer. There is a slotted screwdriver slot on the fuse cover. Using a flat-head screwdriver (or your thumbnail), turn the cover about a 1/4 to a 1/2 a turn and the fuse should pop out. Keep the cover. Replace the fuse with a 4 amp, 125V (or higher) fuse that is a slow-blow fuse. There are fast blow (or fast acting) and slow blow (or slow acting) fuses. You can't replace one for the other. You should be able to find a fuse at Radio Shack. If a new fuse doesn't get your system working again, then something else is broken. Good luck.

A few days ago the subwoofer stopped working. Yesterday I turned the system on and it wouldn't work at all. I discovered the fuse had blown. I replaced the fuse, couldn't find a slow blow fuse so had to...

Try removing the wires to the subwoofer and then hook a "aa" battery to it and see if it makes a pop sound..this will tell you if speker is ok...if it is then I think the amplifier sectionj for the sub is what is blowing the fuses...you are probably right..it looks like it's a 1 A fuse...but if it's blowing right away..it may be circuitry related

Unit blew the internal fuse. SONY SA-WMS367 SUB-WOOFER

Bad output IC or voltage rectifier are the most likely at fault.

Fuse blows

Both 3 or 4 amp slow blow fuses are suitable replacements for the 3.125 amp subwoofer fuse.

It could be that the subwoofer is blowing the fuse because the one you installed was not slow blow.

But, more likely is the subwoofer has a short in the power supply which is causing the fuse to blow.

Fuse on subwoofer keeps blowing

Subwoofers draw a tremendous amount of power. With the amount of heat generated by amperage flow and the movement of the voice coil, you may have burned out the coil. Do a resistance check across the coil. Easy check? Temporarily attach another speaker to replace that one. Use LOW VOLUME and slowly work the vol up,and, if the fuse does not blow, it's the other speaker.
