Try Initializing the Camera.
First, press the Home button to display the Home button.
Then, select the Settings option in the Home menu.
Then, select the Main Settings under the Settings.
Then, select the Main Settings1 under the Main Settings.
Then, select the Initialize to initialize the Camera.

If the issue still persists after Initializing the Camera try Power Resetting the Camera.

First, turn OFF the Camera.
Then, remove the battery pack from the Camera. Then, press and hold the Power switch for 30 seconds.
Then, reinsert the battery and check whether the Camera works normally.

My camera stopped taking pictures, screen turned black. The lens is frozen in place and will not go back into the camera. When you press the power button, you can hear the lens trying to close but it...

The lens error is due to failure of the lens control system. You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck.
Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. Unless you are familiar with handling of small devices must the camera be opened. If so check the voltage on the motor drive, check the auto focus and Zoom drives, it must be free with manual movement. If jammed the motor can be removed and realased. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service centre.
Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

Camera lens cover won't open when you turn the camera on. Says "power off then on" but still stuck

This kind of problem occurs if camera dropped on floor that broke lens mechanism OR lens mechanism got dust particles that make it stuck.
Usually lens mechanism needs to be replaced to solve the issue, however, user level try to solve the problem is to tap camera on your palm a few time gently that may release stuck lens mechanism and it start working again, if that does not help then lens assembly will be replaced.
Thanks.

That's a common problem on Cybershot cameras, happened to me twice, the solution is to get it to a camera shop for repair.
The cause could be dirt or a malfunction on the lens extending mechanism.

I had a friend that ran into the same problem, but his solution is not what I would recommend but it did work for him. He used sewing machine oil and applied a tiny amount less than a drop to the crevice of the camera body and the outer lens housing, his was stuck in the retracted position, and he got it going again without a problem.

The diafragm it´s closed not

I dropped the camera and got the same problem, until I read somewhere in this site that open the camera and then tapping on the ring around the lens while power on and off several times, it will work again. I did for me. I took it apart with phillips screwdriver and I used a hard rubber caulk spreader to tap it; it has some weight but will not damage the lens if its it by mistake. Try this and will be surprised. I am the 3rd person I have read that solved it doing this. Web ready Video is good in this camera. Good luck.

My coolpix displays lens error when it is turned on. The lens opens and closes twice before the display reads lens error.

his generally happens if you have dropped it. when the message comes. try tapping the camera. if it works then you are lucky. if not then you have to change the lens array. it costs about 60$

Lens wont extend, lens error restart camera

My wife's Canon SD200 got stuck with an open lens and the E18 error. I opened the case and wiggled things and still nothing. Then, I turned the camera on and started tapping the edge of the lens casing with the magnifying glass I'd been using (need the battery and memory chip in place and make sure you've transferred pictures to your computer before trying this). Voila! The lens closed. But, of course, it wouldn't open and still gave the E18 error. Well, one good tap deserved another and Voila! again. It opened. After a few more iterations - and cleaning the lens casing each time, it was back to normal. The trick is the timing of the tapping. Just after turning on the power to the camera start tapping on the lens casing - not hard - just a light tapping. And don't tap on the glass lens itself -- you don't want to really break it.

Lens stuck, green Power light flashes, nothing happens.

get a butter knife or any thin object like that and use it to push out the lens and turning it on at the same time  you will hear a clicking noise which is normal  once completely out, use your hand with a gentle but firm presure move it form left to right
and then hopefully it should work after that

When i turn on my camera it says Turn the power off and on again

Hey, my camera the dsc- w80 did the same thing. When I turned it on, the lens opened 3-4 times and then it said "turn the power off and on again".
When the lens opened an closed, I pulled on it with my fingers and twisted it. I kept doing that: Turned the camera on and off, kept pulling and twisting the lens and now my camera works again!
