When the remote control won't operate the DVD player recorder, check the
batteries. Try replacing them and see if the remote works. If the
batteries are fine, the code on the remote and the code on the DVD
player recorder might not be the same. When aiming the remote at the
unit a number will be displayed. To set the remote to the same number,
which will be 1, 2, or 3, press down OK on the remote as the appropriate
number at same time. God bless you
Hello The changer mechanism should be suspected. It is a skilled work to look into. You have to disassemble it. There are three microswitches inside the mechanism, which give signals of the state of the mechanism to main system control IC. If the loading gear wheels have some problem, these witches won't engage well, and the the whole mechanism will be inoperative.
You should try unplugging the DVD player from its power source then plugging it back in. Now try to open it and if that doesn't work than you'll probraly have to take it apart to get the disk out but sometimes the DVD players can get worn out or if you have a cheaper DVD player it might just be freezing up on you. I have had these problems before. I just took the DVD player apart to get my disk and then trashed it.
TRY THIS. It works on my Philips DVD player:
To make some DVD players play disks from different regions.
1. Connect DVD to TV ensuring both are then switched on.
2. Press "OPEN/CLOSE" button on DVD player.
3. Enter "8421" using remote control.
4. While watching TV screen repeatedly press "Select" on remote control until region 9 is reached.
5. Press "OPEN/CLOSE".
